Loved it. Absolutely loved the headboard on the bed with the Highland cows on it. Fantastic friendly staff. Only thing that could have been improved was the breakfast (not the quality, as it was delicious, but had to ask for butter with my toast and also assumed toast should come automatically with the full Scottish breakfast, but had to ask for that too)Coffee was the most delicious filter coffee I have ever had. It was fantastic. Would definitely come back to stay

Stayed here on the second night of our trip and what a disappointment!! Extremely overpriced, not clean, not comfortable and even the heating didn't work in our room. The bar man was the rudest man we had met in our whole trip to the highlands. He was very short and extremely aggressive with us and our questions. We asked for a recommendation of a good local single malt, which you would expect a man in his position would have a lot of pride in, and his response was shocking! The only reason I gave a second star is for the pleasant dining staff and the good food. Avoid this place to stay, but do drop in for a bite to eat.

When I read reviews I wonder how this could be the same hotel I stayed in ? 🤷‍♂️ We had a excellent stay here, the garden room being excellent and nice and private from main hotel. No tv ? A bit strange but I quite enjoyed the break from it really. The whole place is very clean and the staff excellent & welcomingly pleasant, the restaurant was excellent in quality with the menu changing daily 👍 🥘 all in all first class folks.

Stayed for one night in June 2021. One of the best hotels I've ever stayed at - it was as if the owners were welcoming you into their family home. The customer service was exemplary, whilst the food (breakfast/dinner) was high quality with sizeable portions. The rooms are spacious with comfortable beds - there are no televisions but frankly you don't need one with such a warm and welcoming lounge and bar area. Would highly recommend, even at the slightly higher cost.

Such a nice hotel from the warm feeling when you walk in to the friendliness of all the staff! Rooms where big spacious with cosy feeling. The lit fire on a cold day was a nice touch. The restaurant was excellent the best food I had on my trip around the nc500 would definitely recommend can not praise it enough.

Underwhelmed. The reception area stunk of fish. No TV in the room. Severe lack of sockets in the room. Only 2 plugs provided. Cannot charge up 2 devices and have a lamp on or want heat. Seemed clean though.Vastly overpriced considering the amenities and room offered. Wouldn’t recommend.Trying to be something it isn’t - misses the basics.

We didn’t stay here however during our NC500 trip we stopped here for some fish & chips. Staff were super friendly and accommodating and even made us fresh fish without beer batter due to our dietary requirements. Will definitely be paying a visit for dinner here next time!

Overpriced and under delivered. For £160 we were expecting a really good hotel. Sadly, it was lacking the basics and we left feeling cheated. We’re doing the NC500 and found other hotels at half the price significantly exceeded this place. There was no television in the room, something which even a basic Travelodge provides you with for £25 a night. The room was overlooking the roof. There were no complimentary biscuits and one teabag of English breakfast tea (we had to chase reception for more). The wood in our bathroom had not been painted properly making it look uncared for, and our double bed was two singles put together with a big dip in the middle. There were only two plug sockets in the room, one for the kettle and one near the bed for the heater meaning you could only plug in one bedside lamp at a time and not be able to power the other or the heater. Again, a basic Travelodge would have more sockets and possibly USB ones yet a £160 a night hotel does not. The curtains were not blacked out and had big gaps at the side meaning that the light at sunrise woke us up at 4am - things that wouldn’t have been an issue if the price was less.At breakfast the waiter was less than cheerful and somehow thought I could drink a pot of tea without a cup. He didn’t ask if our food or stay that night was okay, nor asking if we wanted more drinks.Checkout is early compared to a lot of hotels at 1000hrs. A member of staff walked straight into our room with their own key at 0940hrs without even knocking - we were still showering at the time. There was no one on reception when checking out so we couldn’t raise the issues with the management. Not a positive experience.

From the fish scale in the front entry, to the crackling fireplaces, outstanding staff & owners going out of their way to make us feel at home (hot-toddy for my head-cold), I'd say this is an excellent choice if you desire cleanliness, pampering, outstanding staff, excellent food and beautiful scenery.Worth the beautiful drive!

Fantastic location. Lovely food. We had dinner and breakfast. Both excellent. Dinner was good value for money. A tad overpriced for the room rate but the hotel is full of character and seems to be a must for anglers.
