Fantastic pub and fantastic hospitality. Had an amazing fish and chips for dinner then watched the football in the snug. Great choice of beer. Great atmosphere. So glad I came in after my walk along Sango Bay and exploring Smoo Cave.

my friend and I were surprised by our stay and not in a good way; we had high expectations based on the google reviews. the mattresses felt like a rack of springs that turned into a horrid taco shell when laid on. dinner was ok, but the prices felt a wee bit high for the quality received. for example, the apple crumble dessert was £7 but looked like it was a Morrison's or Tesco ready-made frozen dessert. the room rate and prices for food didn't match the quality received. perhaps that's the benefit of having hotel in the name and the location near a massive natural attraction?

We were staying in Durness on our North Coast 500 roadtrip and our B&B hosts recommended food up at Smoo Cave Hotel... Very glad they did. It was great; we had the haddock and chips, good value and generous portions. Lovely, friendly staff... Highly recommend a visit.

The hotel staff were lovely and inviting, excellent hosts. The hotel nicely decorated, clean and a great shower was very much needed after a long day of travelling. The bed was very comfortable and the room very warm. We had our evening meal there (fairly priced) and breakfast the next day (included in the price of our stay). Both great and was lovely to be able to get a hot, freshly cooked 'full Scottish' breakfast ;) as most other places around the Highlands were only doing continental breakfasts at this time of year (February) it had free parking, WiFi and private bathroom. The view from our room was stunning and it was very close to smoo cave, just a short walk away. There is a bar for the evening there and they had a pool table and darts board. The only negative I could think of was there wasn't a mirror at the dressing table but there was one on another wall and in the bathroom. I had to think hard for a negative here. Perfect all round and highly recommend. We would stay here again. Thanks guys. 5 stars from me and I'd give 10 if a could :)

Family owned and fabulous as a result. A very friendly atmosphere with good quality accomodation and food. Nice bar and a small snug lounge.

Went for a meal after a long day of travelling. Service was amazing and the lady who was working the bar/floor was an absolute delight. The meal itself was substantial in size and tasted amazing. I had grilled haddock with potatoes and vegetables and my wife had the lasagna meal. Both were great and VERY reasonably priced. On the way out the lady who was working also offered us advice on local things to do and was as friendly as anyone could be. I wish we got her name so we could mention it here. Definitely recommend!

Nice atmosphere, tidy and clean, "Non residents welcome", (because that's a thing in Scotland).A lot less expensive than many places that I've had a meal and a drink in around Scotland.Food was decent, hot, and served promptly (at least in my experience).Free WiFi for patrons.Reasonable parking facilities, off season at least (your mileage may vary during busier months).Drinks are a little expensive, but frankly that's nothing new for Scotland.

Food and drink was lovely and the prices were great. Just a shame they advertise as non-residents welcome yet the hospitality says otherwise. We were asked on arrival to not take too long, not quite sure why as there were many empty tables during our meal. Our server Hugh seemed annoyed at our being there. You would think they would want tourism money after a dead season due to Covid! I used to wait tables myself and would never dream of being so rude to paying customers.

Given the circumstance around Covid and restrictions currently, all at the Smoo were welcoming, and extremely accommodating. Theres certainly a fine balance for residents and non residents and I think its fair to say the Smoo Cave team try to please all to the best of their abilities. Accommodation is spotless and the bar is great for a bite to eat of some really good home cooked food! (Recommend the steak pie!) Smoo Cave Hotel is a must for those visiting the area in need of food or those looking for a place to stay!
