Wow, absolutely amazing meal.I had the slow cooked beef cheek stew and mashed potato and its one of the best stews I've ever had. Just what you need after a day of hiking in the cold weather.I really wanted a dessert after but I was so full I couldn't handle one.The decor is nice and cosy, friendly staff and reasonably priced. Would definitely come back here.I would have come on Thursday as well but it seemed to be fully booked. However today there were 3/4 tables free so I would still chance it even if it says they are fully booked (or ring)

The best and most knowledgeable barman when it comes to whisky recommendation. Great service and atmosphere, a proper old fashioned inn - the way it should be. Staff here make your evening and the locals are lovely too. Thank you for helping my husband with your birthday whisky recommendation. Well worth a visit or several!

We visited The Stein Inn 3 times during our stay in Waternish and every visit was perfect. The food was good and wholesome which was needed after wet and windy days on the Isle of Skye. Katherine, Alex and the lovely young lady whose name we didn't get were great hosts. Please book as it gets very busy and you may be disappointed.

The food was burned and the oven was not working and we were only told about the oven after we sat down and had ordered drinks. Complaint and never got a reply, then they had the audacity to block me on Instagram. Not very professional if they filter out any negative comments and only leave positive comments for guests to see. Why not reply to the unhappy customer in the first place rather than pretending all is well?

This used to be a great place to have lunch. Not any more. The food is absolutely dire and mostly confined to expensive watery soups served cold with bread and butter extra. There is hardly anything else on the menu and most of our party sent the soup back because it was cold. The Cullen skink stands out as being over-salted and a huge disappointment. The service is sullen and unfriendly. I think there’s a new owner who really needs to get a grip. We won’t be going back.

Visited here for dinner on a Saturday night in October. Great atmosphere and a lovely place on a cold winter's night (wasn't winter, but it was about 9 degrees and awful rain all day).It was a little too warm inside for us, they continued to stoke the fire and add logs and we were uncomfortably warm, but I can see why they were doing this.The food was a bit mixed. The Mussels were delicious. The portion was huge and reasonably priced.The cod however wasn't what we were expecting. It tasted good, but the description on the menu said cod with mash potatoes and a tomato jus, but it was more like chunks of cod, baked in with a ratatouille-like sauce (courgettes etc) and an almost pureed potato. It tasted nice, but didn't feel like the fish was as fresh as it could be and we were expected something "cleaner", with the fish on top etc.Service was good, very polite. A little slow at times but there was limited staff and it was busy. We also weren't in a rush so it didn't bother us much.Overall definitely worth a visit, but the shellfish definitely seems to be the star here! Would definitely visit again to try more of the menu.

Nice setting in a charming cove in an old stone building with character. The owner however is rude and arrogant. The breakfast was odd, not terrible but not cared for. I felt glad to be out of the place the day after, just a sense of unease and being unwelcome. Terrible value at £160 per night, I would expect something nice but this was anything but. Not a good place.

Our room had amazing views & the bed was comfortable but that’s it. £160 was too steep for a room that felt tired and shabby.This place has all the bones to be a real gem under the right ownership but our experience was the place lacked warmth or any feeling of hospitality. There was a general air of lack of care. Breakfast was a sorry affair,over-refrigerated croissants and muffins which had been squashed out of shape and had the texture of rubber . The owner had a confrontational manner which you could see made her staff feel uncomfortable. We were glad to leave to be honest.

We visited the Stein Inn on an idyllic Sunday August evening - and the setting is really something quite special. I'd actually booked the wrong weekend in error, but the staff were able to fit us in at short notice which was great.The ambience and decor inside is lovely, and the staff were very attentive, however I would say that the food was expensive for what it was. For the cost of the meal, we'd have expected a pretty exceptional dinner - and it was good, but not exceptional. The desserts were, however, delicious.Despite the amazing setting, we wouldn't return as, whilst good, it wasn't good value for money

We had Sunday lunch. £32 for a fairly average roast was highly overpriced in my opinion. The beef was quite tough, they actually forgot roast potatoes but remembered by the time I’d half finished, the veg was nothing special. I liked the gravy. I’d have been happy to pay £12 to £15 for my plate.Sorry, it just wasn’t worth the money.
