The Cabin in Highland

Brilliant take away, as a vegetarian I often only end up eating chips at a fish and chips shop but this takeaway did some lovely falafels with salad and a lemon wedge. Rest of the family had fish, chicken nuggets or battered sausage and all were equally good and portions were big! Would recommend.

Fantastic service, stunning food, worth the wait if you are queueing outside. No reservations taken, first come/first served. I'm not a huge tipper but this was so good I found myself happy to give more than my usual. Might not look fancy inside but the quality and quantity of food you receive is what matters more.

Lovely little restaurant in Mallaig. We were tempted by takeaway but decided to eat in. Had a very well cooked lobster and huge scallops. The new potatoes were the best of the sides and the fennel side salad was a great touch. Definitely recommended!

I was so excited to eat here because of the great reviews and being a place next to the sea, I though the fish would be super fresh. Now looking through the reviews, I realise the good ones are for the restaurant and not the takeaway section. We hired a camper so wanted to eat it in there and the takeaway are still not cheap and it costs you around £10 or more for the food.To start the calamari was the worst I've ever had, even the thick coating of tasteless batter could make these tiny pieces any better. They were rubbery with no fresh taste whatsoever, calamari usually melts in the mouth. Along with all the photos containing lemon wedge, I didn't get one.The chips were hard and like plastic, and as soon as I opened the box I knew it looked like the last dregs of what they had in he fryer. Waste of £25.00 and hugely disappointed.

A Taste of Scotland, this place should be given 5 stars by VisitScotland. If you want fresh fish accompanied by high quality side dishes you need to come here. From the outside the place looks a little old fashioned- but don’t worry about that, you’re coming here for the food. Monkfish recommended and you can try “prawns” here - that’s what the Scottish call Langoustines.

There was absolutely no disappointment following our second visit here, I had the battered haddock and chips and my husband had the grilled monkfish with chips and both were cooked to absolute perfection, the setting inside is cosy rustic, we were lucky to get the last table here so do arrive early to avoid disappointment, they close at 8pm (last sitting is around 7pm)and it is on first come first served basis.All fish is fresh and caught in the Mallaig areaIt is by far superior to anywhere else in the area…or even the UK to be honest!..you will not be disappointed if you choose this restaurant

Had the Cullen Skink soup, and langoustines, both were cooked to perfection with the seafood all being fresh caught and some of the best I've ever tasted. The pavlova for dessert was also delicious. The staff are friendly and food rivals the best London restaurants, a real gem.

Simply superb!I have visited Mallaig many times but never stopped here, this will change from now on!From the moment you cross the door you are made feel very welcome. A great selection of seafood on the menu. Portions are generous and service is great, so what's not to like. They don't do table reservation, so walk in only, or takeaway which they also have. Really great value for money, strongly recommend!

Added this to my best meal. We had spiced chicken schnitzel (it's not that spicy as it sounds) and salmon and dill fishcakes. Every item in dish was really great. Salad was really standing out.

Found this gem en-route to Skye and absolutely loved it! Seafood was super fresh and service was very quick upon our request (had to rush for the ferry). We got the crab soup, grilled scallops (not pictured) and haddock which were all delicious. Would definitely recommend if you’re ever in Mallaig!
