Genuinely thrilled to hear the news that the Old Forge has been handed over to community ownership. The previous owner was an absolute donut.

I would leave it 0 if i could. Reserved seating everywhere (at 2 pm) with 3 tables open which where occupied. Asked the owner if we could sit at one of the Reserved tables just to drink our pint, he said no told us we can sit at the bar (which goes against goverment covid guidelines) or sit out in the rain. We went outside, had a few sips of our pint which wasnt even a full pint and it tasted rancid.Definaitly will not return.

Really enjoyed the experience. Lots of comments about the owner here, but he was pleasant with us and had no issues. Also loved that the food comes from within 7miles, worth paying a pound or two more for local produce.

Now the 4stars are for the beer and Shona 👍 the pub itself is nice and friendly be it the visitors or locals ? (Don’t know how many go there)Having read reviews of the place I decided not to eat there and communicate with the owner other than a hello ! Good choice I think because it is a wee bit pricey but it would have been really good I think 🥘 then I seen a wee bit of his manner and customer service skills 😱 so I just ignored himSeems a wee bit Basil Fawlty to me!Who maybe just needs a wee hug now and again 🤗

Delightful place to stay. Warm welcome and food all home cooked, some home grown too and perfectly delicious. Recommend Garden Breakfast and scallops particularly..Fab view of Ben Nevis, delightful garden with small burn running through and such helpful owners and staff. We wish we could have stayed longer!

Friendly pub in a stunning location. Decent selection of beers, ales and soft drinks. We didn't eat, but looked like tasty menu (for which a table reservation would be essential!). We sat outside enjoying panoramic views from deckchairs.

Unforgettable visit to the Old Forge. The landlord welcomed our party into his pub with his sparkling personality. He was very accomodating and helpful. He allowed us to book extremely last minute. He has many an interesting insight into worldly culture. I found his take on the British character fascinating and insightful. The ambience within the pub was warm and inviting. The food was plentiful and very reasonably priced. Highly recommended the Old Forge.A must on any tour to Inverie!

The remotest bar on the UK mainland needs a visit, despite what other reviews you may have read say. We seem to have got lucky re: staff in that the wonderful Shona was serving when we went. She's an absolute gem and so friendly.Drinks are a bit pricey as you'd expect for a bar this remote but for some reason they don't stock the excellent Knoydart brewery beer which - being brewed 100m away - would probably bring the price down substantially, instead shipping over Lochaber brewery Wild Barn's beers, the HPA being a great drinkBenches out front give you a magnificent view over Loch Nevis.Be warned though, they charge you for card transactions despite this being illegal. Raise this with the management at your peril!

Set in a stunning location, The Old Forge is the setting for an unforgettable atmosphere and delightful food after exploring the beauty of the Highlands. A real chance to watch the light glisten on the bay as the sun descends to its daily rest. The weary traveler can soak in the ambience, the delight, peace and tranquillity of Invernie. Then JP the landlord opens his mouth and shatters all that is hoped for. This utter oaf of a man ruled his roost with contempt for those he personally deems worthy of it, when he is not throwing the drinks menu at my friend ordering the table to “buy wine”, he is berating us for the shear audacity of wanting to split the bill. And demanding that only one should be paying for a bill over £250.His staff try their very best to compensate for the utter crass behaviour of this man and are sympathetic to all those he spits on. But in the end only exhibit the behaviours that one would expect from beaten house wives, hoping that one day they will find sweet release from this tyrannical rudeness.Food was nice though, although desserts were somewhat uninspired. This establishment could be so much more.

This place is simply magical. JP, the landlord, is an incredibly friendly host who takes genuine pride in his food, and boy is it good food too. Never would have expected to have an absolute top notch, luxury seafood dinner in the remotest pub of the UK mainland! And yet. The scallops are mind-blowing, the mussels absolutely flavourful and moreish, and the house mayo is to die for (what is your secret?!). We had a three course meal on the first night - including the amazing seafood platter - and went back for round two the next day. Do not miss this place!
