A repeat visit to The Star Inn.Wonderful as usual.Sadly the pub and restaurant burnt down November. So we missed the great Andrew Pern food.Great hospitality thanks Gillian. Will be back one day

Simply amazing. Went here for my 50th and had the gluten free taster menu with the optional signature dish and cheese course. Food and service outstanding. There is not one negative comment. There for 4 hours but worth every minute. If you like fine dining with a relaxed atmosphere then book here but well in advance as it's incredibly hard to book a table in a reasonable timeframe. Will definitely be going back. Thank you for an amazing evening and unforgettable experience.

Just spent a great afternoon at this fabulous restaurant. Excellent food, with great wines to compliment. Also the service we received was exemplary. Thank you to everyone, for making this such a memorable experience. The Sheen party 21/10/2021

Superb meal, sublime wines, lovely setting, great staff.Tasting menu with matched wines was one of the best dining experiences I have ever had. Each and every course was packed with amazing flavours and texture, nicely presented and accompanied by an excellent wine that really complemented the food. The wines included some real gems that I hadn't had, or at least not ones of such quality.Smallish dishes but not tiny at all and over the whole menu quite a lot of food and drink and left feeling extremely happy. All served in a welcoming venue by very good, enthusiastic staff who helped make it a memorable evening all round. Couldn't ask for more....glad we are off for lunch!

We have always wanted to dine here and booked a table for when we were on holiday in Yorkshire. When we arrived we were full of high expectations as it looked lovely outside and in but we were shown to a table right next to the bar and the view from my seat was an area used by the staff. The food was delicious, apart from the fish ice-cream on the tasting menu and the staff were very helpful and friendly.I thought the service charge was a bit excessive.

Very cosy restaurant. The bar at the end of the building is good too. We had a late lunch sitting and I think this affected the quality of, well, my meal. The lamb was a bit dry. Overall we had a fabulous day and the weather was good too. We'll certainly go back

My wife and I went to The Star last night, to try their summer tasting menu with wine pairings. We're fairly local and fairly regular - trying to get there a few times a year to celebrate anniversaries and birthdays, so we're clearly fans of the place. If you've not been, the tasting menu is about 12 little plates of something delicious - and if you like, there are specially selected wines to accompany each dish.Last night I think we had one of the best meals we've had there for a long time. Great flavours, really interesting textures (puffed rice on slow-cooked veal) - including the use of a Lindisfarne oyster as the sorbet cleanser.... and some very curious wines to go with it.But it's not just the food. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and elevate the already great food.Top notch. Well done all at The Star.

Beautiful setting in an old world pub with thatched roof and english country style gardens. Staff excellent and very accommodating as you would expect in a Michelin starred restaurant. We had the sunday roasts - the beef was fantastic, the gravy out of this world! Highly recommend trying the wine pairings too.

We visited as a family with two young children. From start to finish the service was superb. They were very accommodating of our children, making our experience warm and welcoming. The food was sublime; the flavours, the fresh ingredients and the incredible skill in putting the dish together made each course highly enjoyable. To top it all off, we found the place very down to Earth with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. We are already looking as to when we can book our next visit.

The food was incredible and we really enjoyed the atmosphere but it felt like some staff were massively overworked and kept apologising for being slower than they would like. They were obviously working as efficiently as possible but I felt maybe there was too much pressure on them? The tasting menu was way too out there for us but we loved the a la carte options.
