Y-Not Bar & Grill in Highland

We've just eaten here and the food and service was horrific! The food was sub par and not worth ordering, with overcooked pasta and meats. No drinks order was taken for our meal so it was very uninjoyable to eat with a parched mouth. On top of that, multiple servers walked past our table and ignored us for drinks orders as well as clearing away dirty dishes. I am shocked that this service is deemed acceptable!!We left before we wanted to as we were ignored for too long and therefor decided not to spend anymore of our money on a business that clearly didn't want our custom. We were up for a night of drinks for what was supposed to be a nice family night out but it was just ruined by the lack of care and interest from the staff.Y'not need to reassess what they want from their business as it looked as though they were understaffed and poorly trained in food service.The staff lack communication and team working skills, which if developed, would have resulted in a polished service. Staff looked over worked and/or uninterested in their work which just set the tone for the over all evening.Very disappointing considering this had really good reviews previously, so save yourself the trouble and don't bother going here not unless they reconsider what they are wanting from their business.On top of that they added a tip charge without asking us.

We stopped in for a meal without a reservation. The waiter got us a table and was great. Food was lovely (chicken fajitas and a veggie burger). It was busy but service was goid. Unicorn cocktail was fab!

Great food, lovely staff. Lots of veggie options. The restaurant was really comfortable too. Prices are reasonable and the portion sizes are generous but over the top.

We've now visited the Y-Not several times, whether it's been for cocktails, lunch or dinners and each time we've had a really good experience. The food has been amazing every time and service is also very friendly in general. Hope they keep up the good work and it continues to be a go-to place for us :)

Hit and missFrom the email I received the service was brilliant.I called to bring the date forward and on the day we arrived we was seen to by a spacious table, menus and polite staff.I got a *y not special shot* as it was my birthday.We ordered food...And waited. There's a notice saying due to covid, and staff shortage may take longer which is fine.Now this is where my rating is reduced.Food was brought out by a different waitress... A seafood pie, but the second item was incorrect... The waitress went back to the kitchen with one plate, and we was left with the seafood pie. Whilst we had a dig with our fork... The waitress came back and took the plate off us...And rather than sending it back to the kitchen it was taken to another tableI'm sorry but with covid and everything the meal should've been sent back to the kitchen and not taken to a nearby table.Food I'm general was good... However the skillet of rump and chicken for the platter was cremated!!It was so overcooked we don't even know what cut of beef it was.Everything else was goodI personally think some staff training needs to be taught as if this incident had occurred to me, I would've left the restaurant

My partner and I had breakfast here before a busy day of sightseeing and it set us up perfectly! The Full Scottish Breakfast was amazing and the Eggs Royale was decadent. Highly recommend for breakfast but it also does lunch and dinner as well, which I'm sure is also great.

Everything we had was amazing. The seafood sharer was absolutely fantastic, and the crab spaghetti was out of this world. The staffs were so kind as well. Thank you so much again for an amazing start of the afternoon

Food and service were really great and recommended. Huge portions and very good quality. Only thing to let it down was the 'welcome' we received. We are visiting the area on holiday. The restaurant has signs from the high street to an alleyway. The alleyway has a sign for the bar, with an open, well-lit door. We made the 'mistake' of walking through this clear entrance to be told extremely abruptly by a waitress that we'd come 'the wrong way' and to 'use the right door next time'. We were told there was a sign, but we'd certainly not seen one visible. We were made to stand by the 'right door' literally a few feet away from where we stood before they'd serve us. I've honestly never come so close to leaving a place I'd only just entered.The awful welcome was a real shame as the food and drink were superb and our waiter couldn't have been more helpful. His service was prompt, efficient and friendly. He apologised profusely when we told how we'd been treated when we arrived.On the way out, we followed the signed path and exited out of the same 'wrong' door we'd entered. The waitress was right, there was a sign, but as the door was open in a fixed position the sign was facing the wall and impossible to see when you enter.My recommendation, keep the great food and waiter but lose the awful attitude when welcoming guests. If someone is coming in the 'wrong' way, try assuming good intentions and give them gentle guidance, especially when it's a family with a young child. Even better, put up clearer signs or don't prop the exit door open, so that people don't unintentionally make the mistake in the first place!

We had veggie sharing platter, it was delicious. Honey halumi, mac n cheese was amazing. Staff, efficient, prompt service and lovely environment.

Great restaurant with two floors in Thurso. We ordered a seafood platter and two side dishes for two people. Costs around USD40 per head including drinks. Would recommend if you are around this area.
