Food was lovely, temperature and atmosphere a little cold. Sadly service stalled and we sat for too long waiting for our next course (the other tables nearby were served 3 courses in the time we waited) and we ended up at the bar to ask for the food and also drinks. Aware it was a busy service and whilst we would rather have time than be rushed our elderly guests were tiring and still cold. Regulars seemed to receive a warmer, quicker and better service.Response to management:Given 3 of us kept our coats on for quite a while and told staff that someone in the group remained very cold maybe we could have been moved tables before others came in - at that point we were the only diners in the area. I’m not sure how you knew people were so elderly pre arrival as this hadn’t been discussed at the point of booking or paying the deposit - thanks for the safe quiet seats.I’m sorry but sitting for 45 minute after we had finished the 4 courses (which all arrived in quick succession) with our desserts plates in front of us and standing up to find staff to ask if cheese was included and popping to the bar for drinks and coffee was not what we expected of the service. If staff were at the other 3 nearby tables surely they should have been checking on us? It seemed that as we had made a comment about it being cool at the seats at the end of the glazed room and doors that service/interest pretty much switched off. On 2 occasions at going towards the bar area there were staff available waiting at the kitchen/bar area.Looking at other reviews and the reaction from management they seem quick to argue that the customer should have a different opinion. Much better to actually ask the diner how they felt than tell them how hard the service was and that tables over ran. Reading that staff wept after a hard shift but not acknowledging less than perfect service for all customers seems an imbalanced view of hospitality. As a family - we have had a long service in the hospitality industry and understand the demands and challenges. Please take time to empathise and communicate directly at the time as we did.

Lovely place, good food although not much selection and over priced

I'm not sure I should tell everyone how fantastic the food is at this restaurant! Went here last week and booked to return before we left. Definitely the best meal out we've had in years. They clearly have a talented chef and dedicated team to customer enjoyment. Haven't experienced their rooms but if anywhere close to restaurant standard they'll be lovely.

Lovely food great service but Saturday night very loud for guest staying did not stop till 1130 ruined a great place

This is a beautiful old building with quirky little eating areas in the restaurant. The food is exceptional and beautifully presented. The staff were professional, efficient and friendly. Although above average price, the meal was more than worth it due to the superb quality ingredients and the 3 courses being faultless. Loved the coffee too. Well done to the owners, Sophie and her husband, keep it up ! My sister and I are definately planning a return visit around November. A must visit for those who enjoy excellent dining

Honestly Amazing. Not sure what to expect. The Old Mill has a very eclectic menu mixed with an old pub setting. I wasn't sure whether to be concerned at an overenthusiastic menu. I shouldn't have been worried. It was absolutely delicious. It is an incredibly well executed menu with well paired flavours and exquisite original combinations. The owner, Sophie was extremely passionate and helpful. What a lovely evening we had. A must for any foodie in Northern Scotland.

Owners David and Sophie are great hosts and the staff are fantastic. We stayed for two nights bed and breakfast with dinner one evening and the food is superb. Room was great with boutique hotel touches and will certainly be going back.

Gastro pub experience. Food on the whole was good, but for the price, I would hope for a little more attention to detail (over seasoning of the “Wee shepherds pie”. made it almost to salty to eat). Wine was excellent as was the desert in particular. This part of the country is blessed with some great places to eat.

Dinner for two. What a superb place. Food of tremendous quality, and attentive hosts make this place a must. We went for three courses and were delighted with the menu choices. Each plate was a treat. Definitely going back. This is a place to go and savour the time and food at The Old Mill Inn.

Back to our favourite place to eat and welcomed back like old friends. New menu for their new named Hearth Restaurant. Food was awesome and as usual great service from all the team. The new menu was excellent my partner described his monkfish main meal as an explosion of taste. Already booked a table in August to celebrate my birthday with friends. A lovely complimentary malt for my partner as he was celebrating his birthday. Cannot recommend the old mill enough
