This is the second time we've visited having last been in 2018 but the first visit under the new owner Graham and we couldn't recommend it enough! We had a really warm welcome after popping in for one drink and ended up staying until close, chatting to the locals, playing pool and sharing rounds with them.Everyone was so friendly and welcoming and Graham had an amazing story of how he's ended up running a small bar in Tomintoul, he's such a fascinating guy, definitely ask him about his life! His love of whisky was infectious as well and his plans for the bar sound really brilliant. He recommended a few delicious Speyside ones for me to try that I haven't had before. Five stars! Will be coming back for sure.

Pub was very homie lovely friendly dog on site. Didn't stay in one of the rooms it offers so can't rate that.

We had the pleasure of meeting the new pub owner, Graham, at the weekend (and not to forget his gorgeous dog - the landlady Lucy!). This Edinburgh-born, California-raised gem is a breath of fresh air - not just to the pub, but to our village and our surrounding community. We received a warm welcome and exceptional service from him and his bartender, and enjoyed wonderful conversation with him. He has exciting plans to refresh the pub and its offerings - watch this space! We look forward to our next visit to the Glenavon. Thanks Graham and Lucy, and welcome! Orrabest (all the best) in your new venture - Dibs and Isaac.

Had a great chat with the new owner, super nice, homely feel and a fantastic menu too! Absolutely recommend visiting if you're in the area (or even if you're a wee drive away). Dog friendly too

Really friendly staff who tried to help me out when I ran out of fuel. Chef was especially helpful doing his best to find anyone in the village who could help me.

Friendly & welcoming staff with very satisfying 'pub grub' food. Good choice of drinks too. Log fire on an autumnal evening, pool table and friendly pub dog a bonus 👍.

Homely, comfortable 'local', with a friendly welcome, delicious meals, excellent beer and whiskey, pool table and leather sofas round an open fire. A lovely end to a day's walking.

We did not lodge at the Glenavon, but we had a great lunch at the hotel pub, highly recommended, friendly staff, dog friendly, and great food. Burger - hearty and great; smoked salmon salad (tasty, well prepared; get the large); and tried the haggis balls with whiskey sauce, what the heck right? Enjoyed it all.

We stopped for a late lunch and it was an absolute pleasure. The landlady is really friendly and welcoming and dog friendly too! The food was great, the prices were really reasonable too. We'd definitely stop by again, can happily recommend it.
