Quaint harbour side Inn. Comfortable rooms, excellent breakfast, superb steak meal. Very accommodating staff and all on the last day before closing for the winter. Recommended.

We booked online before we traveled to Orkney. Confirm your booking by responding to a confirmation email and you are all set. It was a terrible night when we arrived and we were shown to a two seater table beside the door to the toilet. However the manager quickly moved us to a more cosy table as he wasn’t expecting many more customers. Thanks. The service was good and we quickly had drinks. The menu was interesting and we picked local food and drinks. Orkney IPA beer fresh from the tap. Cullen Skink so thick you could stand your spoon up in it. Just what you need on a wet and cold night. The lamb with parsnip crisps on bed of cauliflower and potato was filling. The dessert of coconut and mango purée was a delightful surprise. Great night.

Popped in to get a evening meal and a drink. Excellent customer service and very nice food and staff. Company had booked The Stromness Hotel, avoid like Covid.

Very pleasant surprise. While waiting for the Sunday ferry to the mainland, and feeling very hungry for lunch, we went to the Ferry Inn which is just across the road from the ferry terminal. We weren't too hopeful of getting decent food, having spent three days eating in decidedly un-special restaurants. We ordered fish and chips and were very pleasantly surprised by the super fresh fish cooked in a light and crispy batter with good chips. They obviously have someone good in the kitchen! Not normally one to rave about fish and chips I have to say that this was a find.

Restaurant review: Their online booking system is great, easy to navigate and you reconfirm with them 24 hours before via a link.Stopped here for our last night in Orkney, received a friendly welcome which was lovely and the food arrived promptly. I chose deep fried local cheese for my starter, baked salmon for main and orkney ice cream for dessert. The food was tasty, fresh and used lots of lovely local ingredients. Would definitely return next time I'm in Orkney.

Staff were nice and polite. Food unfortunately was not good. They have a captive audience in Stromness for people looking for evening meals as only them and the Chip Shop open in the evenings.

·

Fish chowder was great and filling, baked Lamb melted in your mouth and the ginger cake and rum custard fantastic.

·

Went here for the drinks only. The owner is very friendly and accommodating. Their hot beverages are beyond i expected. I bought hot chocolate and latte. Both are rich, creamy, and looking pretty.

Visited again for the first time in a long while. Pleased to report that the present management are maintaining excellent food from a great menu together with friendly service. So many splendid meals to remember in the Ferry Inn over the years.
