Lynnfield Hotel in Orkney Islands

Loved the ‘Lux’, service was fantastic, food and wine was to die for. Our room was exquisite!

Cannot comment on the hotel but the restaurant is great and caters nicely to gluten free people. The value for the food you get is good, the tastes are delicious. Finish your dinner off with a glass of whisky to top it all off nicely

Right from the get go, the staff were super lovely & accommodating, making sure we had everything we needed & they all made us feel genuinely welcome. The room exceeded our expectations & was excellent value. Would recommend to anyone looking for a charming relaxing place to stay or have a meal. The Melsetter suite was fab!

Attended the first Lynnfield Lux of 2021 and, as ever, it did not disappoint. Great food paired with a selection of French wines. Role on November where it will be Australian on offer. Love it!Last night we attended the last Lux of 2021. Based on a Spanish theme, this included a range of Rioja wines paired with a selection of tapas and then either a fish or duck main, followed by cheese and apple tart. An excellent night.

Lux Evening a welcome piece of seasonal luxury. Great food, great wines (introduced) and great service. Will be back.

We had a lovely family type room with charming country decor. Each room has its own name with featured art on the walls. The bathroom had a jetted tub and a separate walk in shower. There were plenty of plugs to charge devices. The restaurant food was amazing and the owner took the time to learn about us and chatted with us.

The Lynnfield was always a great, unique hotel, but the extension Malcolm has built has made it even better. The rooms in there are superb, genuine top of the line rooms, traditional yet modern decor and all the mod cons people need and want. I've stayed in rooms the same size as the bathrooms at the Lynnfield!The food continues to be some of the best around, and the service from all the staff is fantastic: always friendly, always helpful genuine nice people.The only place I will stay on my work trips is the Lynnfield now. If you have an electric car, you also have chargers in the car park!

I can highly recommend visiting the Lynnfield. Superb staff who know their hotel and clientele so, so well. Excellent dining and amazing drinks. Could not get a better place to spend quality time with friends and family.

Rather stuck in a timewarp. We had been looking forward to the fish and seafood at this restaurant. The seafood platter starter was fine, but that really only requires putting a selection of fresh items on a plate. The prawns had not been shelled, yet no fingerbowl was provided. The main we choose was halibut on a lemon, pea, and broad bean risotto. The portion of (steamed?) halibut was generous, but rather overcooked and with too little risotto so it was rather dry eating. The presentation was poor with a single stalk of pea-shoot stuck on top being the only colour for this bland dish on a white plate. The broad beans in the risotto were hard and mealy, undercooked and too old. All meals seemed to come with the same vegetables: carrots and unappetisingly large and stringy French beans. This was the most expensive dinner of our week in Kirkwall and I'm afraid we couldn't really recommend it. If you like seafood, try the Storehouse.

What a fabulous restaurant! The setting and decor are really lovely. After we were seated, we were brought some lovely bread and a little canapé to start. We had main courses and desserts, all of which were amazing. The cafe gourmand is an excellent dessert when you can't pick only one! The cheeseboard is a great showcase of Orkney produce. The service was excellent and staff were very attentive without being overbearing.I would highly recommend if you really want to treat yourself to some amazing, locally sourced food!
