Smithfield Hotel Restaurant in Orkney Islands

Barthroom was tiny but the room was a good size. Drove up to Birsay and was worth the visit. Staff very friendly & food was nice.

Very enjoyable lunch, the new waitress did very well on her first day. Really good gluten free options, all the cakes apart from 2 were GF. The coffee was also lovely. Will be back again soon. :)

Lovely place with a friendly owner. Visited during out of season but was warmly welcomed. Fantastic breakfast menu.

In for lunch when passing by - was very good - nothing fancy just good wholesome food -. Fish and chips - not a lot of choices but good variety. And prices ok - caters for disabled as well

Overall a nice stay. We stayed there for 2 nights for a wedding. The rooms were clean and tidy, and the staff were very friendly. Food in the restaurant and the breakfasts were tasty

We ate here a couple of times during our stay in Dounby. First time just turned up and, although they were busy, they fitted us in. Two great meals and friendly helpful staff.

We were lucky enough to stay here for a week. The breakfast was fantastic Brilliant and friendly staff just made the breakfast experience Brilliant. We also had a meal in the restaurant one of the nights which was also amazing. I would stay here again in a heartbeat

Totally underwhelmed by the whole experience of eating here70th combined Birthday meal for my Mother and my 50th.Succulent Pork was like shoe leather,Salad was brown and gooey, had to replace the Pork with fish and chips which arrived after everyone else had finished!!Only reason I gave 2 stars is because Leanne 🖐️ was extremely professional unlike the waitress who was " serving" us who would not come back even after I asked twice??No WE will not be returning

Excellent food from start to finish from the scallops and steak to the bonoffee cheesecake for dessert.Really polite and friendly staff rang through last minute and they squeezed us in.I would highly recommend a visit .

Rooms a little dated but nothing was too much trouble for the owners/staff. Good choice for breakfast and evening meals which were all excellent. Would stay again.
