Standing Stones in Orkney Islands

Fabulous meal with the family. 11 adults and 7 children. Friendly and warm service. Food was excellent. We ordered off a set menu, however some children wanted something off the main menu and they happily accommodated when they really didn't need to. Drinks very reasonably priced. Would definetly recommend.

It's a nice restaurant and bar, the staff takes the time and try to know more about you. The new menu is different but plenty of choices.. The vanilla cheesecake was really nice...

Very slow service to start with had to ask for our order to be taken despite the place being less than a quarter full.Starters were fine. The main courses we chose were not.The sea bass just made it but there were too many dry mussels and the potato shoestrings were raw.As for the "Standing Stone Burger" it was awful. There was too much on the plate, it was off putting. Everything was dry and tasteless. I managed to eat the burger which was very dense and dry.Very rarely do we have a problem clearing our plates, on this occasion nearly full plates were returned with our comments regarding the standard of the food.We would not recommend anyone to have a meal here.

Good food & plenty of choice for all appetites. My steak & ale pie was full to the brim with succulent, well seasoned beef & delicious gravy. Burger was huge, onion rings enormous but sadly a bit soggy batter.Black Pudding Scotch Egg - soft egg & crispy on the outside = perfect!Local ales on tap were very good.Dropped a star due to staff (reception & bar) - we weren't staying at the hotel, might have returned to eat again if they had been a bit more hospitable

Comfortable hotel in great location serving good food. Friendly, accommodating staff. Advertises all carte menu but dinners served in bar rather than dining room and menu stayed the same for the week we were there although plenty of choice. Large portions, well cooked. Good breakfasts with plenty of choice. Comfortable beds. If small details were attended to would be 5*.

Very nice stay. Close to many attractions the island offers.Web site needs updating as it’s very out of date.Staff friendly.Food is outstanding. The head chef certainlyhas a passion for food and a eye to detail too.Very happy with the food and service.

Had lunch there today. It was our 2nd trip and it was as good as the first. Still the best fish and chips I've had in Orkney and superb service. I will definitely be back.

Lunch visit: Excellent home made yellow split pea soup. Very comforting. Large, good value portion of Scampi & chunky chips. Tasty. Good service. Comfortable.

Last minute booking for New Year's Eve family meal. Great food the baked Alaska was superbly done. When booked by email staff contacted me within a few minutes to enquire about our requirements for booking a table. Great customer service and a great way to spend the evening.

Very tasty food at reasonable prices and beautifully located. Worth recommending. EDIT Change of chef? Food is now lacking seasoning and menu has changed quite dramatically. Would not recommend anymore, unfortunately....
