Great service, great local food. Clean and tidy and also so friendly.Sit down restaurant in the back next to a hire-able meeting room, and a front bar for a drink.Sat next to Harray Loch and with plenty of parking it's a really good place to go out and eat whilst in Orkney

The food is really excellent, great local produce, prepared fantastically well. The soup of the day is always a highlight (last year my husband was raving about the lentil soup for months, but yesterday's chicken and sweetcorn probably beat it!). But the best thing about it, really, are the staff - so kind and nice, doing everything they can to make everyone feel welcome and ensuring they have all they need. How they can muster up the patience and kindness after 18 long Covid months, I have no idea, but they do - thanks so much, you made it a lovely evening!P.S. I just read through some of the previous review and wanted to clarify that if there ever was a policy of no sauce with steak in the bar, that is no longer the case. We ate in the bar and both had steak, with a choice of peppercorn, whiskey or roquefort sauce... (and it was delicious!)

We visited Skerries for the first time this year as regular visitors to Orkney, as part of our mission to try some more restaurants! After reading some reviews, we booked Skerries expecting it to be on par with The Foveran. In my opinion I’m afraid the two are not comparable, but we had great service and generally a good time.Skerries does a fantastic cullen skink which I’d recommend trying to start. The regular menu has a small choice of typical pub food. The specials are more appealing, although a few were slightly odd combinations and a bit overpriced.Generally the food was good, but not the best I’ve had.The restaurant itself has great views of the island through the enormous glass windows, although the dining room does give off conference room vibes. All in all, we had a good time at Skerries. Would I go again? Probably not, but it wasn’t bad by any means.

To be honest, having eaten at Floveran the night before, I was not expecting Skerries to be this good. Pictures don't do it justice. Great views from restaurant. Arrived bang on time, not rushed off to table. Offered choice of a pre dinner drink or immediate seating all felt very calm and professional. Nice table and decor. Staff efficient and polite. Food terrific, fresh, no wait but not rushed. It's a bit more pricey compared to some other places but rightfully so. I got sauce with my steak !

Starters and desserts were fine but the fish main course was over cooked and under seasoned, as were the vegetables. There was a sauce but I have no idea what it was as there was no flavour. The ambience of the restaurant was good as were the staff.

Welcome was not up to the locationYes, I'll admit: we got there a little late (we got lost along the road…), but as soon as we sat down, we were immediately pushed to order! Then, I don’t know if it was because of our delay, because we were not Hotel Guests, or just because… but they were all but friendly with us…Despite that, the food was quite good, and the location spectacular! Shame about the house wine… rather old.We should very much like to know if getting there in time would make a different experience… we’ll check.Price per quality: all above considered, too much.

We messed up our reservation but the staff were very accommodating. There were four of us in our party and everyone enjoyed their meal. Reasonably priced too as we ordered from the lounge. Would certainly recommend.

5-stars all the way! One of the best places to eat while on the Isle. The staff made us feel like family, the food was fresh and delicious, and the views are to die for. You WILL NOT go wrong with this establishment.

Best restaurant on the Orkneys. Staff were attentive and we had a large group. The food was amazing. I had the pork with bacon, it was stuffed with black pudding and had a sauce drizzled on top. I had to slow down eating just so i could enjoy the flavors longer. The garlic mushrooms were devine. The scallops starter was great. The side dishes were compliment to every dish and the portions were adequate. I did not leave hungry, just wanting to come back again. The view of the lock was a compliment to everything else.Outstanding restaurant.
