The Pipe Major in Barking and Dagenham

I visited the pipe major tonight with my husband and son.My hubby and son ordered the Ultimate Southern fried chicken burgers with jalapeños and I ordered the 8oz Sirloin steak. We all enjoyed our meals and cleared our plates.We quite often visit the Pipe major and the staff are always very polite and friendly and the service very good.For our dessert this evening I had the Apple crumble and ice-cream and my husband and son both had the ice-cream and waffle with honeycomb crunch.Again we all enjoyed our desserts and were feeling very fall. We enjoyed our visit tonight and will definitely be returning again soon.

Initially thought we'd have to wait ages as it was packed when we arrived. Plenty of parking which is handy. Ordered food at the bar and we were served quite quickly. The food was good value for money.

Very good food. Had a great time celebrating a friends birthday. Staff were very accommodating to us too

The manger in charge, I don’t know know the ladies name, but she was amazing! Looked like she had her hands full as the pub was so busy! She was able to find us a table on the Saturday and Sunday without booking and was extremely helpful! Food was value for money and all staff were very helpful! Highly recommend if you are in the area!

Booked last week was given the table we asked for. Received a nice welcome. Ordering was made easy a wide variety of dishes to choose from. Told how long the meals would take. Food was lovely.

I ordered steak meal medium rare the steak was nearly raw and so tough I couldn’t cut it I was offered a replacement but choose a chicken coujon starter this did not really compensate the steak I was looking forward to. The rest of the meal and drinks were fine

Seated straight away on arrival at a comfortable table. Food arrived in good time and was very nice, good selection if ales as well, and reasonable prices. Will definitely eat here again.

Booking seemed to be cancelled, however they still managed to get us a table, which was excellent as it was our anniversary. Staff were very friendly and accomplished. Food was well cooked and delicious, would totally recommend.

Carvery veg was the worst I’ve ever had. It had clearly sat under the heat lamps for hours. Peas were discoloured, potatoes tasted dry and powdery, carrots were cut into huge chunks and were wrinkled, gravy was like water.The meat was nice! Turkey was moist, gammon had loads of flavour.Kids meal was reasonably priced and quite good quality.Drinks were expensive. I can forgive the £4.40 Guinness but £3.40 for a Pepsi? A soft drink shouldn’t be the price of a pint of beer in a normal pub.It’s a shame really as I had a nice meal here in 2019 but the quality of the carvery was so poor I didn’t eat the veg. Left hungry and disappointed. I won’t be returning

Family and community friendly pub with basic food with generous portions. Book ahead for Sunday carvery. Extremely friendly staff and lovely outside grounds with plenty of seating and a play area. Parking next to the pub free for a couple of hours, next to Travelodge
