Food was fantastic and really well presented.I got everything I asked for and all came fresh and hot which we all really appreciated.I found that it is best to book a table then turn up without booking as last time I visited it was very busy and being short staffed made it hard to keep such a good standard that yourselves usually have. Not a dig of any sort, but I made the mistake of not booking prior to my visit previous.Fantastic experience, not a long wait on food and we were all happy!Would definitely recommend and would make sure to book going forward!

Sunday lunch for the family. Ten of us including 9 mth old, 5yrs, 7yrs and 90yrs old. Good menu with numerous options to please everyone. Large portion sizes for all ( including children's option). Well cooked meal, very tasty. We were waited on by Laura who was very polite, happy to meet all of our needs, allowing us plenty of time to order, eat and chat. Didn't feel rushed at all.Pleasant surroundings, light and airy.

The waitress was doing a fantastic job by taking orders, keeping customers updated during the wait for food and drinks and serving with a smile. Inside the restaurant she seemed to be the only one doing at table services … so literally doing everything on her own. But she still offered to change my drink, when I mentioned an allergic reaction to the syrup added to the cocktail.

Food, surroundings and staff were lovely. There is a nice walk by the Star too so you can either build an appetite or walk the food off after.

The website says no need to book. We arrived approximately 12 50. The restaurant was pretty empty. We were refused as the guy that eventually came over said I only have two chefs working We can't help. Interesting approach to customers. Really great service NOT. Not interested in customers. Isn't that part of the job. Or was it a decision of staff to not serve all nationalities!

Having been to The Star a lot recently it’s been lovely to see the changes that have been going on and the new staff that have started. Everyone was very friendly and it was nice to have a conversation with the manager who even let me try some of their new ice cream which was delicious! Looking forward to spending more time in their beautiful garden now the weather is brightening up!

The size of the head on my pint they definitely can’t pull a pint !! Arrived today just get a drink but as soon as we arrived the rude man said you don’t want food and we said no we are just getting a drink and he walked off and said good we ain’t got any left . Ordered a pint and this is what I got … didn’t have any snacks / crisis etc absolutely waste of a place atm .it’s got another lot of new owners who clearly don’t care .. hopefully these lot won’t last and we can have a nice pub back until then I won’t be back … can’t stand rude staff especially managers who are meant to set a higher standard ..

6th Feb 2022. Booked to eat here to celebrate 75th birthday. Total shambles from start to finish. On arrival we had to set out own tables out. Food took an absolute age to arrive. We had hot food that was cold in the middle, raw burgers, wrong meals sent out, sides that arrived after main meal was eaten. The waitress was under a lot of pressure but kept smiling. The new manager however had lost control of his restaurant and obviously did not know what to do. Refunds on food did not make up for a ruined birthday gathering.Even the toilets were not clean or stocked with toilet paper !Such a shame, lovely building in a beautiful setting. On a previous visit when a different manager was in charge we had a great experience. We will not be returning.

The outside is a mess and very dangerous for dogs, I have walked around here for years and never had a problem. Today our dog today nearly walked into/onto smashed glass from their tables . Looks rather run down and grubby outside now because of broken tables and umbrellas. I would dread to think what inside is like . PLEASE take more care of the areas that public use !!!
