The Anchor in Bexley

Was a Friday night, 7.30pm, table reserved for 5 for food & drinks. Arrived, very busy but felt like a playground with lots of children, 7 years & younger. No table reserved even though we booked. Shoulder to shoulder at bar taking at least 10 minutes to be served. Eventually a member of staff emptied off a table for us. Had to squeeze into chaire as table next to us was too close. Really did not feel comfortable eating there so left after 20 minutes.

A good drink and nice atmosphere - Changed a lot since the late '70s but still looking good ... and it'll always remain The Blue Anchor to me and my mates!

It's been many years since I have been and it is so nice in there. Staff are friendly and attentive, taking drink and food orders quickly. There is a really good choice of food, lots of variety. The decor is modern and contemporary, nice setting and facilities. Large garden, perfect for warmer weather.

I was very disappointed with our experience. I booked a table for 6 and on arrival 4 guests had arrived . Staff had to move tables around to accommodate which I thought would have been done prior our arrival . The food orders and all came out so staggered some had already finished the meal . The fish and chips looked nice but was greasy, the Combo was very expensive for what is was.. The table were like rocking boats and not once were we asked if our meals were ok ... They did apologise for the delay and staff were polite which made things easier ...

Lovely atmosphere and staff. Worth booking on a Sunday as its popular

Lovely looking pub with both friendly staff and clientele. I can highly recommend the superb Sunday Roast!

Very friendly staff who are quick to take your order. A good variety of drinks. Food is decent as well. The pub itself is well decorated and has a contemporary feel with the garden being very pleasant. Toilets are clean.Would recommend visiting.

Still nice food but charged 6 quid for 3 little strips of chicken. Used to be healthy sized portions now it looks like their trying to squeeze more money out of it. Who I think was the manager, not sure since I can't keep up with who's running it anymore, came over and said he's had no complaints since starting just before Christmas but that would make it 2 weeks? Not how I remember the anchor to be. Disappointed

Very poor service if sitting gin the garden. I like to be able to talk to staff when ordering food and drinks to make changes but everything is run through the useless app... when ordering drinks we had to add a dash of soft drink separately couldn't make any alterations on the food via the app. Over priced for pub grub although the food wasn't bad but did not match the price.... table service outside please its not difficult some what lazy doing it through an app I expect this in a weatherspoons not and expensive pub.

My friends and I visited this pub for Sunday Roast on October 6, 2019. The place was recommended by a local who is a regular, who had nothing but good to say about it. It wasn't very busy so we were able to walk in and take a seat. It took about 15 minutes before we were greeted after we had already sat down and found a few menus laying on a table near the toilets. We were ready to order drinks and our food, but it took the girl several more minutes to come back to take our order after she walked away when she first said hello. Three of us ordered Sunday Roast, one a hamburger, and I ordered fish and chips. All three complained about the roast being too tough to chew. The hamburger was ok, but my fish and chips were awful. It appeared I had a large piece of fish, but turned out it was a very small, dried up piece of fish that resembled the consistency of beef jerky vs. fish and it had about an inch thick layer of breading. We asked for silverware, but the girl never brought it. We flagged down a bus boy who was able to provide us with it. We flagged the girl down and asked her 4 separate times for water and drinks, but she kept walking back to the bar and chatting with others. The bus boy was able to bring us water and we saw him ask her to go to our table twice for drinks, which she did not ever do. One of my friends had to walk over to her and ask her again and call her out for ignoring the 4 other times we had asked for drinks and she finally brought us one. We were there about 3 hours total, not by choice, but because we couldn't get service or our bill to pay and leave. It was the worst food and experience in my 10 days visiting the UK.
