Very friendly pub and great staff. Popped in by chance and not disappointed. Sausage & mash (great tasting sausages and worth 5 stars) and a prawn baguette (would have liked the choice brown bread).

Pleasantly surprised. Popped in for a pub lunch, good choice on the menu, food was excellent, service was prompt, friendly staff. I would definitely go back the next time I'm in the vicinity. Highly recommended.

Lovely and enormous Easter Sunday lunch beef roast: 2 thick slices of beef, cooked to perfection and plenty of various vegetables. Followed by home made apple pie and 2 scoops of ice creamHusband had the white chocolate cheese cake. Equally delicious. House wine not bad either. Very attentive and pleasant staff. It is very difficult to park in the village. Own car park. If you live around Bromley the 146 bus takes 15 minutes to get there and it is hourly on Sundays and I think every 30 minutes during the week. We always leave the carat home. Our favourite out of town to go to pub.Bon apetit.

We visited on a weekday afternoon for a late lunch and were really happy with the friendly welcome and service. There was a generous portion size and, for a small pub, a choice of three ales was good. The pub itself is fairly average, but it has lots of historical interest and I have given an extra star for the great service. Many thanks to the staff there. 🙂

Friendly staff, well conditioned beer and tasty food. A proper ploughman's many thanks?

What a charming pub and a charming owner. The pub must be about 500 years old and as the character to go with it.It has a decent menu and the bottle of Rioja that we purchased complimented our delicious meal. So, the Salt & Pepper Squid I had as a starter was scrummy, if not a trifle over cooked. The Rock Fish & Chips I had as a main (You can see my theme here?) was tender and beautifully cooked. A few more chips would have been welcome and perhaps another choice of peas... mushy, puree. Will most certainly be going back there.

Loads of character and friendly service in this pretty village's pub. There was a great range of ales on tap and an excellent reasonably priced selection of pub classics on the menu. We still had 5 miles of walking to do so unfortunately didn't try out the sweets..

Visited today after our usual place was too busy. A warm welcome then we ordered drinks while checking the menu. We had a prawn baguette, ham baguette and a steak and ale pie with lovely chunky chips. A generous salad with the baguettes and lots of tasty ham. 😋 . Excellent service and smiles from all 3 ladies working there. So thank you!

Had a wonderful Sunday afternoon meal here. Excellent food and excellent service - lovely, friendly and helpful waitresses. Would thoroughly recommend the nut roast - the best one I've ever eaten!

Amazing delivered afternoon tea from Jackie and Nigel at the Queens Head, Downe Village. The cakes were incredible, being light, scrumptious and beautifully prepared. The scone and cream were a delight and made for one of the best afternoon teas we have had in a very long time.Thank you for the perfect afternoon treat.
