My updated review after my most recent visit...Here’s my take on what I usually order. And I’m really impressed by the quality of the raw fish and seafood. I rate this restaurant highly both in terms of consistency, quality of food and the daily specials they offer. On my first few visits, I ordered Sushi Set B and four separate nigiri, egg, med. fat tuna, sea bream and octopus. What stands out the most is the quality of raw fish they serve. For the price point, Atariya beats most hi-end Japanese restaurants in downtown London. The food isn't particularly fancy but you can tell apart the level of quality they put it.The size of the raw fish cuts to ratio of rice is just to my liking. You don’t feel like you’re getting overly stuffed with rice and you could go on eating more. The rice is super well cooked and not many Japanese restaurants in London, even some hi-end ones, could get their rice right but Atariya kills it to near perfection! Also, their wasabi is awesome. I don’t know how they do it but it sure didn’t come from a can or tube. I rarely finish my wasabi unless it’s good stuff. The quality of the sushi here is as good as you get in some sushi places I'd eaten in Osaka, Japan. Can’t fault them. You know you’re in good hands of the chef speaks more Japanese than English ;)I read that some reviewers have complaints about the interior decor, size of table, service and non-food related issues. My take is that if you’re applying the western restaurant or dining experience pallet, you might not not fully understand Japanese restaurant dining, especially sushi bar. Also, if you want great service, you might want to check out a Michelin star restaurant instead. This is a place where you come to enjoy the sushi and experience the bar seating where the sushi master hand makes every piece that goes on to your plate. I usually sit at the bar because I believe that's the best seat in the house.I’ll give them solid 4 stars. I reserve my 5 stars for Michelin star restaurant ;)

Very nice welcome. Awesome chef. Very skilfully cut sushi. Fatty tuna is incredibly sweet and melts in your mouth.

Recommend this small sushi bar. I tried so many soft shell crab, this is the best! Fish is fresh, too.

Absolutely spectacular. Zero frills. Plentiful menu and ultimately very delicious Japanese food. Wish I lived in London, I'd be here all the time!

Authentic Japanese restaurant. If you want quality sushi and authentic Japanese food this is the place to come. The food is delicious and the quality of the fish is superb. For a few pounds more than Itsu you are getting the real deal. Really good lunch offers with this Sushi dish costing only £10.

Fantastic food!! I can't get any better authentic japanese food else where at the price. Only issue is last order at 9pm... Too early to close.

best sushi I've ever tried! and this is a lot to say... I've had sushi across 4 continents, but this was great sushi, great service and great menu! I know its not the cheapest but totally worth the price!

Shashimi was great- fresh tuna boasting a rich red colour. Sushi rolls were ok, didn't blow me away.Unfortunately a number of dishes we wanted were not available that day and £6 for 50ml of plum wine is simply poor value for money, with no option to buy a bottle.Decent food nonetheless I'll probably return to try more of the hot food and shashimi

The restaurant is easily accessible from Ealing Common underground station and it doesn't look very much from outside but the food and service is very good. We ordered an assorted sushi with assorted tempura and it was very nice and reasonably priced. Would definitely go back and would recommend for some decent sushi.
