One of my favourite places in London great atmosphere, amazing staff and bartenders. The music is always the best with the best DJs mixing. Parlour sessions are my favourites not a bad thing about this place

Awesome little bar in the basement with cool staff and fantastic cocktails! They even make the classics and off menu items really well too! And not so expensive! Plus all in a cool atmosphere with great music! Been back here a few times and will return again!

Nick is a great host and bartender! I went for a Long Island, a Bali Breeze and a Boulevardier, can’t go wrong 😃 Ambient music on point and the art is just a bonus on top of the great service

The cocktails are good - but as a trans man this bar caused one of the most humiliating experiences, and I will never be returning. The mens toilets had no working cubicle - so I make the (already humiliating) decision to go to the single occupancy women's toilets. There is no queue, and as I said it is a single occupancy toilet and sink, so I'm not making anyone uncomfortable. Next thing I know a bartender is banging on the door and screaming in my face?Perhaps people don't need to explain to you why they need to use a certain bathroom - and perhaps the mens bathrooms should have a working cubicle (maybe it could be a bit cleaner too - it's disgusting) so nobody else has to go through this? I will never be returning or giving any more of my money to this bar after that kind of treatment.

If I could give a rating of 0/5 that still wouldn't be fair based on the terrible experience we had last week and this is a shame since we had been visiting Freud Bar regularly in the past. We had just ordered drinks from downstairs and went outside for a quick smoke with our drinks, where plenty of other customers were also gathered. A couple of minutes later, a member of the staff very politely told us to return our glasses downstairs once we had finished with our drinks. Not more than 10 minutes later, another member of staff (apparently the manager) very aggressively approached us, shouting that we should not take drinks outside. While he was shouting at us, he had already grabbed our drinks in a very hostile manner. Specifically, while grabbing my friend's drink he poured his hands onto her almost-full drink. In shock from this incident (especially during covid times), we said that even though we would happily go downstairs, we would not accept drinking from this glass again. He immediately threw the drink on the floor next to us and insisted that we should take the empty glass back inside ourselves to the bar.He shouted that he is the manager of the bar and what the other employee had told us didn’t matter. He then kept being aggressive saying that we should not be coming to his place if we are afraid of covid, while also questioning our vaccination status. He claimed that our argument about the dirty glass was invalid, because as the manager he has already put his fingers in each glass before handing out drinks to the bar’s customers. While we went downstairs to just leave our drinks (and then leave!!) , the incident continued in two ways; First, the manager violated my friend's personal space, grabbing her from the arm and yelling. Second, while my friend was inside leaving the drinks, the manager cornered my friend and I shouting that we should never go upstairs and repeatedly yelling that we should not come if we were afraid of covid - Bear in mind that no mention of Covid occurred except when the manager literally poured his finders and hands in my friend's drink. This was by far the worst experience i have ever had in a bar and with the staff of the bar. As i mentioned, it is a shame that Freud hires such aggressive staff as we used to regularly visit the place. Note, that had the manager told us in a polite way that we should not drink outside and that there was a miss-communication with the other member of staff who told us that it is ok to drink outside, we would have gone downstairs and continued with our night. We will obviously never go there again and nor will any member of our friends and extended group as we have informed with what happened. Please do the same and avoid. Thankfully, there are tons of better bars in London.

I've popped here a number of times in the past - this was my first visit following the pandemic. I feel the drinks have lost a bit of quality from back in the day - but certainly still worth visiting.Music vibe is ace!Nice and chill up to 5PM but starts to get busy after and a tables become scarce. Visit, but have one and move on.

Had an amazing time last night with a close friend. We stood by the bar the whole time as there were no seats available and honestly, if I go back, which is very likely now, I would like to stand again because the bar staff were so funny and lively. We were served by Katherine and recommended drinks and was up for a conversation with us when she wasn’t busy. She definitely made our night a lot better! Thanks Katherine!

Great drinks and friendly staff! Cocktails are priced appropriately. The vibe of this place is whack, it feels like it’s trying to be too many things - a hipster club, fancy bar, and more. The music was too loud to properly have a conversation, and the space is physically fairly small. If I were running the place I would commit to one vibe or the other, at least per night; have some club night where you clear the tables and play club music; have some bar nights where you turn the music down. The decor is okay, and the toilets could use some work. Even when the music was off between songs everybody was used to yelling and the place was extremely loud, I would consider sound proof panels. Would return, but I would also like some changes to the vibe.Edit: changed to 5 stars because they turned down the music. Highly recommend the Holy Freud drink.

Probably the first of many hippy cocktail bars before hippy cocktail bars became popular. The rendition of traditional cocktails are all super agreeable with palates. Great place to spend few hours with friends before and after plays, or after dinner cocktails in Covent Garden. Not easy to find, but super gratifying to have found it still standing strong.
