Tajima-Tei in Camden

I went to this restaurant during the lunch break. I have ordered a set lunch menu with grilled mackerel. After waiting for 30 min, the food did not come, even though there were very few customers in the restaurant. I decided not to wait any longer and I left.I wanted to pay for my order, but the manager kindly refused. I appreciated this gesture, but sill I can't recommend this restaurant.

Good and tasty food. Good portions. A little bit pricey. Be aware that if you want to eat inside, you will be packed.

Recommended by a friend who works at Mitsubishi and she said her Japanese colleagues all like this place for lunch. Can tell from the menu that the dishes are quite authentic: they have Chazuke and urchin. So, comparatively speaking, I did not feel like entering a Chinese food express to order some Hunan chicken….Food quality is good. Sashimi is ok, nothing outstanding. The eel iron pot is worth trying, which would be cooking on the table in front of you for 20min.Price-wise it is reasonably affordable given its location. A main dish would be £15-20 and we got roughly £35 per person in the end for a table of 6.The reason for taking off one star is their shortage of staff. There was only one waiter covering all desks. He is Indian but speaks Japanese fluently. But sometimes it felt a bit uncomfortable that he kept asking you to take over the plates for help as if you were working there like his junior when he brought up the dishes. It was understandable but not ideal.

I was recommended this place, so I think I had (too) high expectations. This place is, in my opinion, overall OK but nothing more. The clams soup was very tasty. The unajyu (eel with rice) was edible but the fish was way too soft (like overcooked) and the same goes for the rice. The Japanese rice is sticky but it has to have a hardcore. The karaage was average and I don't have a good understanding of the okonomiyaki, maybe that's why I believe it was the best thing we had. Lastly, the sushi: again the problem was the rice. The fish was nice (not particularly good). The servixe should be improved as the place was full booked and yet there were only 2 people serving at the tables. The waiter was literally running from one table to another all time we were there. I definitely won't come again.

Authentic Japanese restaurant serving high quality dishes with affordable pricing. And they’ve successfully resemble that Ginza restaurant-like atmosphere.Highly recommended.

Proper. Went back here for first time since 2019. Food still excellent. Reminder of Japan. The restaurant was mostly full with Japanese diners which says it all.

Experience an authentic izakaya (Japanese pub) in Clerkenwell. The lunch menu is reasonably priced, along with the varied a la carte sushi and sashimi, and classic Japanese fried dishes.Evening meals from the set menu are more substantial, and expensive, but they do not disappoint. The fried foods are crisp and moist, neither overdone nor greasy.When I ate, the wagyu shabu-shabu set was off the menu, so I'll definitely be going back. While not cheap, I can definitely afford to go again.

I personally had quite a bad experience here. They only let us know they actually didn't have the main meal that we came for, only after they served first few courses, which I would have canceled knowing that the meal I came here for wasn't available. The prices are extremely very high for the level of service received. After tasting the Miso soup, a choice that's usually quite hard to screw up, which they managed to do anyways, we payed and left disgusted. Just around a corner from there, we got Miso soup (and sushi) from a supermarket, which was better than the one here. They've had nice fancy glasses for tea though.
