This is a very well-known pub and has had lots of 'ups and downs'business-wise over many years. I have eaten there many times and have always found thechefs brilliant at what they do and also the bar staff. The problem I have is that the ownernever greets customers, never smiles and I am wondering if he really understands itsimportance in the hospitality business world. It has now shut its doors unexpectedly for 2 weeks - so the regulars will have to find another pub nearby. For the bar and kitchen staff, I give 5 stars -for the owner less than one If I could.Peter

I had an amazing Sunday Roast here. It wasn't really busy so I spent good afternoon with my friend here.

Bit of a problem booking in and the payment. After that, room was ok, clean and tidy, what you would expect for the price. The night I was there it was bitterly cold outside, the rooms were also cold, I stayed with 5 more guys that told me there rooms were freezing all night. Maybe owner could look into that. Other than that, hot strong shower was great. Pub itself was a lovley place, but again cold. The staff could not be nicer, Paulo (?) and the young lady and lad were rushed off their feet but extremely pleasant and provided great service. I had a burger to eat and it was really good, thanks chef. Great budget accomodation and lots to do around the area, would stay again. One last thing, owner, carpets in the hallways and stairs, very noisey with people coming and going in the night/morning but other than that , you get waht you pay for. Thanks.

Have amended this review a couple of weeks after posting from 1 to 3 stars. The accommodation itself was good, clean and perfect for our needs. Would book again, but only via Booking.com to be on the safe side. The Black Lion refunded us the extra we paid on arrival which we really appreciate. But here's our original review which explains what happened...Booked via Airbnb and paid £157 in advance. They then wouldn't let us stay unless we paid a further £250 on arrival. We contacted Airbnb after the trip and they said The Black Lion had definitely received our money so we requested a refund and surprise surprise they didn't respond. If you don't book via Airbnb you should be fine I guess. We're £250 out of pocket.

A small B&B, the rooms however are not small, masiive ceiling and huge windows. Great when visiting London and the connection to city centre is great

Dirty, disorganised, disinterested, don't stay here.Given wrong room, the wrong room hadn't even been cleaned or bed made up. When it was made up, it was still dirty ( toilet seat, floors not cleaned and 2 x bags just left out loose on table with no covers). Pillows and duvet stained and room smelt like it needed a deep clean. Duty ' manager' disinterested when I complained and said he was new and blamed other staff for state of affairs. Charged me for room on arrival even though room not as booked and no partial refund given. Said I had to speak to owner but refused to let me have the details. Breakfast not available despite being published as such on website. Website pictures and Google reviews very misleading. The place is full of drunks and is not safe. At night people tried to get into my room (2 am) and broke the door lock on theirs to get into their room. No staff present at night to help guests and deal with problems. No staff present the following morning ( departure of 9.15 am) and outdoor area filthy from previous night's drinking and food consumption.Information in the room, on the entrance door and website all inaccurate relating to security code, time to return by at night, breakfast, quality of establishment. I honestly cannot believe anyone could recommend this place given the standard of accommodation, safety, cleanliness, customer service, value for money all unacceptable and appalling. It's all lies.

The guy who was ironing the bedsheets was very very very rude, I went to the room where they kept my bags before the check-in, and this guy for no reason started to shout. I tried to calm him down and explain to him that I needed something from my bag but he just kept shouting and swearing so I just ignored him. saw him the next morning and was still shouting and swearing. Whatta disgusting behavior !!! I will never be back in this hotel again as long as this guy works there

Brilliant pub on Kilburn High Road. Not packed. Great food, fabulous staff, fantastic atmosphere. I'll be back shortly 👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿❤️

Lovely pub, with lots of ornate old decor, with a nice warm interior vibe. We popped in here and had drinks and food during the week. Had a nice time, the food was pretty basic though. All in all would recommend, although if the food is improved then it would be a five stars
