A great place, super cute (upstairs for dinner). I wouldn't suggest it for beer downstairs since it is super noisy. We had the burger and the trout and they were both great, super tasty and big portions. The come brulle was very tasty as well. The italian lady was very welcoming with the service. A nice choice for an affordable dinner in a pub.

Down stairs looked great and full of people. We booked the private dinning room for 15. We arrived at 7.30 and the first course did not arrive until 8.45pm even when we selected our choices before we arrived. The pudding arrived at 10.45pm and we were all told we had to be out in 10 minutes because they were closing. The services was poor to the extreme, the waitress (only the one) was rude and bad tempered and the food was poor. Three of the team had to leave for trains before the main course and pudding which we had to pay for because it was pre ordered.

Good roast lunch, bit quiet. Very good polite service. Bit drafty and would prefer a chair to a stool.

Good pub food done well. Upstairs dining is in a lovely room with friendly staff. Nice bit of history around Lady O to see on the stairs 😀.

Friendly and knowledgable staff, decent selection of craft beers and OK food. A little cold and a little dirty considering how strongly it smelled of detergent.

Thought I was having a nice night drinking with work colleagues until the manager told us we were talking too loudly and should keep the volume down before someone complains. No one had complained, we were not talking loudly at all. Great pub if you're going to whisper.

A nice quiet pub, even on England vs Scotland match day. Managing lady is friendly and really helpful. A nice location for a chat or a night out with a small group. Might be tricky for a group bigger than 4. Decent food, they serve their own lager which is decent. Will be visiting again.Make sure to book in advance.

Best pub in Bloomsbury!! Cozy and dog friendly pub serving delicious food. I had a burrata salad and my friend had their burger. Both dishes were excellent! They have a great gin collection as well. The staff are super friendly and helpful.

Lay Ottoline continues the trend in London of quality gastropubs and does it very well. The pub itself has classic decor with wood panels and ornate lighting to give a warm and welcoming vibe. The staff are all well versed in the drinks and food available, are friendly and willing to help with any requests. The food is cooked to a good standard and as the same owners as the Princess Victoria near Shepherds Bush, their scotch eggs are particularly good. The daily menu tends to change depending on what seasonal produce they have and is more akin to relaxed fine dining rather than pub grub. The prices, given the location, are pretty standard with the quality being anything but. The roasted cod was cooked perfectly and flaked beautifully and was accompanied with soft new jersey potatoes and pickled cabbage. The tortellini was simarly well prepared and presented and the fish and chips generously portioned. The atmosphere was perfect for a friend's catch up meal and is also perfect for a quiet date. The pub also caters for more private dining with a separate dining room available to be booked.Only criticism was that on the evening I went there was only one staff member serving the entire dining room (around 20-25 customers in total), but he was polite and apologised for the delay.

I was at the reopening if this cute pub last Saturday. I was pleased to see it's not the typical smelly pub, instead the decor it's vintage and elegant and the atmosphere is very cozy. I tried a porter beer, haggis scotch egg, pork belly with shallots and mash and an indulgent toffee banana dessert, very good food indeed . All rinsed down by a nice bottle of red wine.It was a lovely evening, with good food and drinks, lovely staff, in a cozy pub, will be back for more!My only note : leave the skin on that pork belly! :)
