Baker and Spice in City of London

Disappointing. We would not return.The sourdough bread tasted dry and stale (although I was explicitly told is was fresh) and was served without butter. The prepared salads looked good in the display, but didn't taste so good. The hollandaise on the eggs Benedict must have been from a jar (okay), but it was poured on the dish _cold_.The coffee was good.

To begin with, tasty amazing food, enjoyed every bit of it. Secondly, great service. Matthew is an amazing guy. Amazing place !!!!!!!

Freshly baked pastries are fine for take-away. Eating in experience has gone a long way downhill from what it used to be years ago - probably best avoided.

All the Lovely staff and welcoming, relaxed atmosphere food is delicious and bursts flavours.

February 2020 - Lovely cafe with friendly, attentive staff and fresh produce. There is an extensive range of brunch, salad options as well as fresh bakery items. Coffee is great as well. Definitely worth a try and repeat! - NOT APPLICABLE ANYMORESeptember 2020 - Unfortunately, I am having to change the rating for this place and it has really hit rock bottom. The food was very average and most disappointing was the bread, it was worse than bread from a run of the mill supermarket brand. There were food flies hovering around everywhere. Also, they nickle and dime you on everything. Charging for butter and jam when you're ordering two main course breakfast items served with toast? Ridiculous! Definitely not worth a repeat which is sad as it is used to be our Saturday morning go to place.After going through some other reviews, it seems like there seems to be consensus on the degradation of the quality here. The owners need to pay some attention here?

It's like the staff are forced to work there, not even a slight smile. I know the place, the food used to be good. But the pancakes has a strong eggs taste, trust me you can do better at home. The eggs florantine are cold and bland. Avoid.

Went on a Sunday for brunch. Not putting one star just because food and drinks were amazing.Staff extremely slow and careless, had to ask to clean the table they told me to sit at, still full with previous customers' dishes.Though was enough, but then one of the staff member went on break and just saw her laying on a table sleeping.I absolutely understand how hospitality can be tirying and stressful sometimes, but that was completely unprofessional.If I were the manager I would be ashamed of my own team, and get some training done asap.

Good selection and good food. The staff is very friendly, but a bit inexperienced.

Part of a chain. Fantastic indoors, feels very comfy and leisurely. Inviting setting. Coffee bitter, Americano bitter and too much water. Still if they had not burnt my bacons, I would have given them a 5-stars
