Pricey for small portions, but the £15 lunch set was good value (for the area). The taste however is tailored towards bland European palettes - mapo tofu was not in the least bit spicy, neither was the supposedly spicy sauce on the fried chicken. The bao was OK but I'd have liked to have been able to add my own chilli to it...

Looks good, but the flavor of rice was not as expected. I have tried many similar dishes like this before and this was just a disappointment. The rice just taste like plain rice with no taste of “butter” or any aromatic of it. Why call it butter rice when you can’t taste the butter right? Talk about quality control. But the beef was well seasoned, the two stars are for the beef. The price… not worth it for the portion.

Everything was delicious. All baos we tried were to die for. Also highly recommend the mushroom rice which has a fantastic unique flavour.

Good service with very delicious food. Please keep it in mind that portions are much smaller than you think and staff will pre-warn you too. Still, we were quite shock seeing the size of it compared to price. It was one of the most expensive dinners we have had in London, and still left hungry. I’d go for experience, but won’t be coming back.

I absolutely love this place. The environment and the food are 5*! It was difficult to choose so we had a good mix and I'm still trying to select only 1 as my favourite...just so you can see how delicious everything is. I totally recommend this place.

takeaway bao (classic bao and rib bao)Saw several people visiting here so decided to stop by.The bao itself is super soft and there’s a generous amount of fillings inside (both flavours we got were yummy), however they are quite small so to actually fill up on these would be quite a costly meal…We also got the taiwanese fried chicken which was ok but also pricey for what it was and the sweet potato fries which were a bit salty. The pineapple cake is super small (pictured) but the filling is goodOverall I probably wouldn’t return simply due to the price:portion size ratio but it’s worth visiting if you’ve never been before and are in the area

Delicious and beautifully presented. The staff were lovely and very helpful and fun, and the prawn bao was so good and buttery we both had to order another! Good cocktails too and the little bowl of different pickles is fantastic.

Came here to try the beef on rice, ended up getting the ice cream Bao also. The prices are quite expensive for the small portion sizes. However, the food did taste good, the beef on rice was tiny but did not disappoint. It is a little busy spot so the atmosphere was nothing special, but this is expected. Moving on to the service, waited 30 minutes for the beef on rice after the starter. Was told that it takes 30 min to cook which just does not make sense to me.The restaurant also seemed unhygienic as the eggs were next to the chemicals and a server was scratching her head while handling the food.

Had an absolutely outstanding meal at Bao this evening. Been visiting the original branch for years but this was the first visit to the Borough branch.Food was great, we especially enjoyed the aged beef, the cold smoked aubergine, pork jowl, pickles and fried chicken. Bao were all good too.Cocktails were tasty and service was great, highly recommended

The service is excellent, staffs are nice, the food was tasty. But won’t come back as the portions are too small and pricey compare to what you get. Bao was just alright as I had better from somewhere else. Prawns bun were the best. The beef rice was good by itself but don’t like their seasoning.
