Well I had about 4 hours to set out of the air port during a layover. Hopped on the tube and diverted early from the stewardess’s recommended destination station of Piccalilli Circus to see London. Hammersmith had a good ring to it so I got out and headed towards the river bank and stumbled upon the Blue Anchor. I walked in right around noon and the smiling staff were wiping down glassware and setting up for the shift. I settled in by the window ordered a hand pulled ale. Kitchen was a bit sluggish in getting my order out but when the fish and chips did arrive it was crispy fluffy goodness.

Buzzy, attractive pub on the hammersmith riverfront with glorious views of the beautiful Hammersmith bridge. There's lots of outdoor tables and an attractive interior, decorated with racing boats and memorabilia. The staff are always friendly and helpful. We had the katsu chicken burger and it was delicious! And the prices are fair.

We tried to order beers at the bar and the female bar staff insisted she would wait on us at the table even though she didn't look that busy. There were only a couple of groups in front of us. She later came to our table, took our order of two pints of beer, and that was all. She didn't take the payment then, so we waited to pay at the table but no one came after a looooong time, so we had to go pay at the bar in the end. This girl turned up then and you know what? She added a service charge without saying anything. What a rip off! We are locals and no pubs around here add a service charge to drinks. We had to pay for the service we didn't ask for. We wanted to order and pay at the bar like we always do at any pubs. Visit this place if you're willing to pay ÂŁ7 for a pint. Absurd!

Lovely pub, the outside sitting area is superb, had a lovely time having a pint in the sun

Extremely average food (don't get the pork belly bites or loaded fries). Lovely destination though. Would have liked to have passed feedback on directly but waitress did not ask (though happily collected her 12.5% tip)

Nice ambience and great location, visited on a Saturday night for dinner. Amongst others, ordered the chicken schnitzel dish, however it was a bit dry and lacking taste. Service was good.

Nice spot down by the river. We had a great table upstairs with a lovely view. The food was lovely and prices weren't extortionate compared to a Young's pub. Will definitely be back

Lovely pub , excellent beers on tap including little creatures and Timothy Taylor landlord which is lovely to see down south! Had the chicken schnitzel and it was amazing! Super polite staff and lovely sea kelp hand wash and hand lotion ! Looking forward to returning ! Thanks guys

Very fun evening on Friday with large birthday party taking over three outside tables. Excellent service with one-liner of the night by staff member as follows:"I can open this for you." [Nth bottle of Prosecco]"No, leave it to me." [Polite but firm.]"I like a demonstrative woman.""Yes - so do I."Many thanks, all :-)
