I had the glory of working here as a young man in the summer holidays and a massive perk of the job was sitting down and having a first class piece of fish for my hard toil.Nice place to work fantastic food and great to see its still going strong even after all these years

Had lunch at the Oyster Bar yesterday a place we have visited many times in the last ten years. Bookings are no longer being taken so we felt quite pleased when we found an available table .Not so pleased when we were still waiting for our meal 45 minutes later. We had checked after 30minutes as we thought our order had been lost but was told that it would be at least another 10 minutes . A member of staff told us that we had been informed of the wait when we were shown to our table. We were not told of the delay if we have we would not have ordered, another customer who had young children confirmed that they had also not been told of the wait. When the meal arrived I felt that the fish was overcooked and the chips very undercooked so really not worth the wait. Payment is taken with the order so the choice of walking out is removed. Certainly will never go back to this restaurant

Arguably one of the best places for lunch in the city. Been visiting for over 20 years, amazing fish restaurant with great service. Be there dead on 12 for best chance yo get a table or, as I prefer, at the bar style area. Highly highly recommend this place, I love it.

I completely understand why this place has been open for so long. It’s every seafood lovers dream. We were recommended this place by a local and I’m so glad we took his advice. We came during a very busy lunchtime. Seating didn’t take too long. My roommate and i enjoyed many dishes here and very much over indulged on the delicious food.We had eel, the pot pie, and the lobster mash. I would HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend the eel. It was some of the best eel I’ve ever had in my life. The lobster mash was full of flavor and paired well with the wine the server had suggested. My roommate was extremely satisfied with the well made pot pie. Def have a look at this gem!

My new favorite! You can feel the age of this place. Great service, great selection what can I say... Good was perfect, the sides were great! Smoked eel as an entrée was the right recommendation as was the bait fish! I will be back!

Totally charming drinking black velvet from a silver tankard and eating delicious sea food. Very English. They only sell native oysters so you can only have them when they’re in season September - April, but there are many other lovely things to eat in the mean time and great staff.

Quite possibly the best Dover Sole I have ever had, and the starter of scallops and bacon was just as good. Old world charm. Definitely go there.

A City institution, but could be so much better. We had oysters which were a bit “Russian roulette” tasted hard and fishy.. the fish pie was nice, have tasted better (see Wright Brothers), we also had the mixed grill which was poor (for bigger portion and better quality see Applebees in Borough Market) and a side of carrots (£6 for a minuscule portion that looked like school nuked veg). The spotted dick looked promising but was cold and stale rather than warm and spongy. The place is charming, very old school, so it’s worth a try just for the experience, but at those prices, for quality fish you can do so much better elsewhere. Shame..
