Di Lieto Sandwich Bar in City of London

This place brings back so many lovely memories of being a student at LSE! My friends and I went here every Tuesday and Thursday and frankly it was often the highlight of my day. Best sandwiches I've had in London and probably in my life. I'm vegetarian and had no issues.

I'd heard really amazing things about this sandwich bar and my partner has happily dropped in several times. When we went by today, I ordered one of the vegan sandwiches (which may be a new addition to the menu) and sadly my experience was quite different from others.I was asked to choose white or brown bread, which I thought nothing of until I realised the maker was not using one of the freshly baked rolls on offer. Instead, I was given two slices of Hovis Wholegrain (or something eerily similar). I was then asked if I wanted butter, which I took to mean there was no vegan spread available. I walked away £4 lighter with two dry slices of bread, a couple of sundried tomatoes, half an avocado and a handful of spinach. I could have bought the same ingredients from Sainsbury's and used my Hovis and Flora at home for less.Extremely disappointed and only wish I'd had the confidence to change my mind. Would not recommend for vegans until they can be fully and properly catered for.

Fresh and fast service.. Tasty sandwiches to take away. I tried the avocado mix on a baguette, it was really moist and delicious.

Popular sandwich/lunch takeaway. Large sandwich for the price, under £6. Highly recommended the Dileto Melts! There is always queue for about 5-10 min at lunch time.

I went there on a Saturday with friends, and we had pizza and affettati. The food was great, we felt really welcomed and had a wonderful time. Recommended. I cannot wait to go there again, definitely recommended.

Focaccia sandwiches are really amazing. There are other options of bread that also looked delicious. The options for filling are varied and actually I would like to try them all.Staff was super friendly and price were fair. Totally recommended.

Great sandwich place in the neighbourhood! Portions are huge… we got 3 for 4 people and still couldn’t finish 😅this has become our regular lunch place… the melts are awesome, must try!

Probably the best sandwich I have had in London. The first bite was a Man vs Food moment. I had no9 with everything. The staff are friendly and efficient. Great place, always queuing.
