Lovely restaurant to go for special occasions

I've dined at both La Chapelle as well as Galvin HOP and they are both divine. La Chapelle was everything a fine French restaurant should be - the service was friendly and impeccable, the Sommelier was fabulous, and the food was delicious. The setting in the old church is spectacular, and the restaurant is perfect for a date night or a special occasion. Galvin HOP is the modern bistro next door and is great for a casual dinner with a lively atmosphere. Their new menu is lovely, the zucchini flower and charred corn is great. They offer both sharing plates as well as larger meals, but sharing is the best. The music was great too. Would recommend both.

Review for Galvin Bistro de Luxe, which is now closed. Food was decent, but nothing spectacular. Restaurant was very busy and tables were a little too close together for my liking. Decor was quite nice though and the service was good. Not sure what the other restaurants are like but this one was worth a try.

I have been to many of the Galvin Restaurants. Each of them offer a unique experience and a lovely twist of French cooking. Galvin La Chapelle is absolutely stunning and the crab lasagna is one of my favourite of the Galvin brothers’ signature dishes. Galvin HOP offers a relaxed ambiance and their Tarte flambée is delicious. The Athenaeum offers lovely afternoon tea and their bar is very stunning, a great venue for a Friday or Saturday night cocktail. I have also had the chance to venture the Galvin Green Man in Chelmsford which is less than an hour from London. Since they’ve opened, they won many awards including a Bib Gourmand and that’s not surprising. With lovely surrounding countryside, you can enjoy their Galvin’s classics, some lovely seasonal dishes or if you are in the mood even some pub grub. Definitely worth the ride! I can’t recommend Galvin restaurants enough and wish them many more years of success.

We are regular diners at Galvin restaurants.I visited Galvin Bistrot de Lux in their first week.My wife regularly entertains friends there.We are both great fans of Galvin La Chapelle and we can't wait to fly to Edinburgh to sample the old Pompadour restaurant in The Caledonian Hotel.The Athenaeum was a major disappointment|Friendly efficient service, by enthusiastic staff.Over priced, under or over cooked food.Lack of information.When ordering a side salad it would be a good idea for the diner to be advised that their ordered dish included a salad.Loud background music and over efficient air conditioning did not help.Bad news all around and a monster bill for what was basically Pub Food, badly cooked, with a pricey wine list.Kevin and Wendy Eldershaw

Not bad but would not go again
