La Poule au Pot in City of London

A unique place, very dark inside but creates a lovely setting for a romantic dining experience. Staff were very attentive and food was lovely, exceeded expectations.

Always a favourite. No nonsense real quality french menu and quality dishes. Simple and reliable pleasure unlike so many modern upstarts. Never disappoints and always satisfying pleasure. Great alfresco space outside when the sun is shining.

Charming French bistro with a fantastic wine list, authentically prepared French dishes and a focus on good table service. A bit tightly packed, but a very congenial crowd. A real local gem.

One of my "go to" places. As a francophile and lover of traditional French cuisine and wine this is a must. A relatively small menu but a lot of French classics served in an atmospheric environment and, when the sun shines, the option of dining "al fresco"... what's not to love?

Met a group of friends for lunch. A very French restaurant, small tables, tightly packed, cosy but a bit draughty (it was windy outside) . Straight forward menu, what you would expect, with a few extras. Food was good. Cassoulets were a bit overcooked. Service was very good £360 including 3 bottles of wine. Romantic spot. I would come again.

La Poule au Pot serves consistently excellent, genuine French cuisine. My husband and I, plus our guests, have been coming here for many years, as Chelsea residents and also since we have moved to Surrey, ( we still return whenever possible!) The staff are French, delightful, friendly and helpful. We love the interior decor, the cozy atmosphere is as though dining in the depths of the French countryside. Dried flowers abound within the rustic decor, with mismatched crockery and flatware. billowing linen curtains swathe the windows... you get the picture! Makes a refreshing change from the sterile, noisy environments of many current London eateries! also lovely in the summer to sit outside, partake of French delicacies and watch the world go by in Pimlico square. I cannot recommend La Poule Au Pot highly enough, in my opinion it is the best restaurant in London.S'il vous plait, ne changez jamais!

Close friends recommended this Beautiful romantic candle lit Restaurant. From the moment you arrive your think your in France even the waiters speak to you in French.Food, wine, service all excellent.Definitely will come again and recommend to all my friends as it was recommended to us.Party of three Saturday evening

I came here after a magical experience at Maggie Jones, their sister restaurant. I felt there was such a big difference at La Poule Au Pot - I had made a booking weeks ago but somehow was crammed in a tiny table at the side - people were seated very closely together, my back touching the person behind me and I could hear two different conversations without even trying to.Prices were similar and to be expected but the portion sizes were tiny. The pictures below were off the mains - 2 pieces of beef in the stew, and 4 pieces of steak. Whilst the flavours were nice, it was hard to be full from it. Service took a long time and it felt other tables were getting more attentive service (perhaps we were dressed less "posh")I'll be back to Maggie Jones next time.

Perfect in every way!Visited last night with my family and from the moment we were greeted to leaving, we were treated incredibly well by the lovely staff members. The food was superb (as expected) and the severs were more than happy to offer wine recommendations. My mother had not been to London since the Pandemic, but this visit has reinstated her confidence in eating out once more.Thank you and we will be back!

This place is very cosy inside with traditional french feeling and there is lot of seating outside as well. Service is excellent with personal touch and food is also great. If you really want to experience the French dinning then choose this place and you will not regret. Average bill could be between £120 to £160.
