Wonderful Spanish tapas in this unsuspecting looking pub in Covent Garden! The menu is very inviting, some really interesting ingredient pairings and great sounding dishes. Overall the food was delicious, exactly how I'd expect Spanish type tapas to be cooked. The seafood dishes are the stars of the show here, really fresh tasting dishes and beautifully cooked seafood. Would highly recommend the chargrilled octopus which was my favourite dish and the roasted Jerusalem artichokes vegetable dish - both fantatsic.Only reason for the 4 stars and not 5 is that a couple of dishes just lacked a bit of flavour. The sea bream ceviche I would have expected to have bit more zing/citrus to bring the dish alive and the barbary duck breast was a bit tough and lacked seasoning, the duck leg pancake however was absolutely delicous!Desserts were great, and would highly recommend the pistachio doughnuts and ricotta cream, so damn good and moorish! The staff and service were fantastic, really friendly staff with a great atmosphere in the room. Will definitely come back to try the other dishes on the menu.

Lovely atmosphere and great environment! I came as a walk in as a party of two, and even though it was very busy, they were able to find us a seat. All staff were really friendly and welcoming! We sat at the bar, which was fun as we got to watch the bar staff at work. The bartender with the tattoo was super helpful, talked us through the cocktail menu and made suggestions with the wine, even letting us have a taste! Although he was very busy, he was friendly and attentive. We will definitely come back next time with we’re in the area!

Wonderful tapas a discovery in what isn't to be a French restaurant now Spanish. Our waiter was friendly, knowledgeable and offered insight to both the food and wine to match. A delight.

Second visit , but first time in years ! Was lucky to be able to get a walk in table . Great choice of tapas and quality presentation. Service was great and the hostess was knowledgeable about the food when asked any questions. Would visit again :)

Lovely place definitely worth a visit! The staff were so lovely on the phone when due to train delays we were going to be 1hr late for our booking on a Saturday night, but the staff were most accommodating and re booked our table for 2 for when we could arrive. On arrival we had 45mins before needed to be at the theatre but the service was quick and the food was fabulous. One of us is celiac so no wheat, gluten or dairy and the allergy menu was a welcome sight and the chef went above and beyond to change one of the meals so we could have it being octopus was her favourite. We will definitely be returning next time in London.

Delicious Spanish food in a great location. Really friendly people, quick service and a relaxed atmosphere. We will definitely be back.

Very good food! Small portions, so you can order more dishes. Good priced. The crew is very friendly! The deserts are really good here😍 Not many tourists here, mainly locals. Also there was some nice music on the background.

The Opera Tavern is an Italian- Spanish tapas restaurant in Covent Garden part of the Salt Yard Group. Having recently been refurbished, the restaurant is modern and has a great atmosphere inside, with dining split across two levels. We started off with some cocktails as an aperitif. We tried the “As Cool As…”, Tanqueray, clarified cucumber water and elderflower (£10), which was refreshing. The “El secreto“, Tanqueray, acquavite grappa, quince jelly and parmesan crisp (£12) was sweet and designed to reflect the ingredients of a cheese board! With the cocktails we enjoyed the Jamon & manchego croquetas (£7.5), N’duja scotch egg (£7.5) and the Padron peppers (£6). Given the time of year, 1 in 10 padron peppers are incredibly hot and we got one of them! They were so amazing though. The scotch egg was packed full of filling and a very generous portion and the croquetas were deliciously creamy. We shared the following dishes:Chargrilled gameroni, garlic, chilli with warm focaccia (£9),Chorizo picante with smoked almond hummus (£8)Iberico pork burger, aged manchego, crispy red onion rings and aioli (£9)Courgette flower, monte enebro & blossom honey (£5.5) andPatatas with bravas and aioli (£4.5)The prawns had a fantastic punchy flavour, the chorizo was perfectly spicy, and the pork burger was a well thought out and crafted dish. The potatoes were equally delicious and we can never resist a courgette flower with creamy goats cheese and honey! We paired the main dishes with a glass of Chiaretto leccio, il cascinone (pinot nero, barnera) piedmont 2017 rose wine (£8) and Fauno, bodegas murviedro (garnacha/syrah/monastrell) Valencia 2017 red wine (£6). All of the wines are organic which is a fantastic additional touch. For dessert, we tried the Meringue with chervil, lemon curd and sable (£7). It was tart and sharp as you would expect. We were also given a special off the menu coffee cake which was very light!Opera Tavern is a fantastic tapas restaurant in Covent Garden with a relaxed atmosphere, lovely service and brilliantly flavoursome dishes. Perfectly located in the heart of the West End, it is the ideal place to share great food with family or friends. If you visit a lunch Monday to Friday there is an amazing deal for 2 courses with a side for just £15.

I walked in to this place rather randomly on a Monday evening, having spotted a Michelin guide sticker, which rarely disappoints. It has exceeded my expectations - very very good food and wine list. Service was also to a high standard. Well recommended!

Solid pre theatre choice in the area. Food was well presented and had nice tasting notes. Maybe we didn't order the right items but nothing wowed me enough to make me reflect on my favourite dish. Would go again if in the area. Total bill £108 for 3 people with 8 dishes and cheese with 4 glasses of wine.
