Midweek business lunch, excellent service, great setting, food is top notch. Steak can be served when your own burner so you can cook it a little more if desired.A medium was ordered and was perfectly cooked so not required but some like the option.

London, United Kingdom81Reviewed yesterdayDo not go if you are not a meat eater!!Disappointment is not a good enough description! On the menu there are three kinds of aged steaks, two basic fish, and two vegetarian dishes. I went for the gnocchi, my partner for the fish The steak knives were not changed throughout (my partner had the fish and chips ) The gnocchi was badly cooked, straight out of a supermarket bag, while the sauce was obviously made with Knorr stock. NOT THE SLIGHTEST effort was made to make the dish interesting or appetising with such a simple addition as parmesan butter, to justify the price. This dish might make it in a modest eatery but not at Rowley's. To think we could have gone to Fortnums Brasserie down the road for for the same price but first class quality.

Had read great things about this restaurant, so as we were staying in the same street we didn't want to miss a chance to try it out.The staff were so friendly and knowledgeable when we asked them any questions and the atmosphere in the restaurant was relaxed and welcoming. It was busy but food was delivered quickly and we did not have to wait long at all.We had the rosemary baked camembert to start which was fantastic, and then the Chateaubriand which was cooked just how we like it (although if it was just for me I'd have had it slightly more pink). We even got a complimentary glass of prosecco. We will definitely return as had a fantastic experience.

Disappointing food, slow service and very steep prices (especially for the house wine). We went for a pre-theatre treat (we found they do not offer a pre-theatre fixed menu, which surely they should!). The restaurant was very quiet even though we went on 7th Dec 2021.What to like? It's an institution and they should be able to raise their game again now Covid lockdowns have ceased. The young staff were friendly. The chips were ok and kept coming.

Every said recently about Rowley's is unfortunately true:"Extremely disappointing dinner at what used to be a lovely restaurant back in the day. Steak came out very undercooked [...]. Staff dealt with complaint rudely, but did credit one of the steaks, in fairness."Worse staff, speed, professionalism, quality of fries (undercooked and unfried) and cold meat. Sad to see a family favourite go so down in quality!A single star for great wine.

Food was good but service was a little slow, we had to wait just under an hour to receive starters and then another hour after that for mains. We encountered a few issues; cutlery was missing for a starter course, our jug of water was forgotten, we ordered 2 MR fillets one of which came out clearly overcooked, and we had to remind them of the sides that we ordered but didn't come with the rest of the food. All the issues were rectified and a MR fillet was re-cooked. For an average of £50 per head I would expect a little better overall but the ginger haired waiter was great throughout.

Unlimited fries are served because the entrecôte is minuscule! Good service but poor value overall.

The food was exceptional, especially the beef and the staff very good indeed. Only reason for not getting a fifth star was that the lights were a little bright and some areas just needed a bit of a clean/refreshing. Would still thoroughly recommend though.

Absolutely sublime evening at Rowley’s. The staff were delightful and attentive, and went out of their way to make it a lovely experience. The food was exquisite, we had the chateaubriand which was cooked to perfection (medium rare), and we made the most of the unlimited chips! Delicious desserts (panna cotta & chocolate fondant) and wine too. Thank you for a wonderful dinner!

It was such a lovely night with Rowly’s. We ordered a Chateaubriand to share (with unlimited fries). It’s cooked nicely. I think the blue cheese butter sauce is a bit heavy but it matched with the beef pretty well. I’d suggest to provide a few sauces so that we could dip it into different ones to find our favourite combination. The service was exceptional. They were very attentive. I appreciated they constantly update us how long is the wait for the Chateaubriand.I think we could come back again with a group of six friends. I am sure we will have a good time here.
