Saint George inn in City of London

This historic pub is the only remaining galleried coaching inn in London and is a ‘must visit’ for both Londoners and tourists. The entrance to the large courtyard is through a metal arch off Borough High Street, offering plenty of outdoor seating for fair weather drinking.Although parts of the original buildings were demolished by the London and North Eastern Railway, they thankfully sold the remainder to the National Trust in 1937, who now lease it to Greene King.The only downside is that a lot of the surrounding area has not faired so well and some of the views are a little ugly. Nevertheless a minor complaint, and certainly nothing that Greene King or anyone else can do much about!

Wonderful big fish and chips and very good draft beer. The meal was bountiful and the beer was very good. Highly recommend it

I am a Brit living in the U.S. and traveling with an American friend. The George is good place to feel some of the history of Britain. The staff are friendly. The service is good, as is the beer. However, I ordered a long-anticipated sausage and mash as I love and miss English pork sausages. I was at first embarrassed, then disappointed, then angry.. The sausages we were served were clearly re-heated from last night’s leftovers, as were the mashed potatoes. This kind of food service is the reason British food has had such a bad reputation worldwide. I thought that was a thing of the past, but not at The George.They are holding onto history a bit too much. That kind of service does not respect the customer. The fish and chips at the next table looked good, however. Hard to serve yesterday’s fried fish. There is a reason the lines for hot sandwiches, sausage rolls or paella at nearby Borough Market are very long at lunch time….the are fresh and delicious.

Decent boozer, handy location. Packed on a Friday night, but bar service was quick and efficient and table service polite and attentive.

Great pub. It's actually the only surviving galleried London coaching Inn. Original interiors and amazing atmosphere makes you want to just stay in, drink and eat. Food was fantastic. I recommend fried chicken burger. You can also spot original gas lanterns that not many are left in London. Well done for owners for keeping this little pearl of geart London history in such a good shape.

Old style building with good atmosphere and nice space inside and outside. Was quite busy on Thursday evening. One bar is quite small but didn't queue too long. Would recommend. Haven't tried the food but menu looked decent.

When there are festive events going on in London Bridge area or Borough Market, we always seem to finally end up at the George pub. It has a large court yard from which you can see The Shard and they do have outside heaters . The place is big with many sections. There's all a fire place at the front end.. 2 sets of toilets..one at far back and one at the front in a separate building. Staff are friendly.. bar gets busy but you get served quick. Anything from full meals or just coffee and chips.

The staff were amazing helping us throw a safe & most amazing wedding party in December amongst the stress of the pandemic! Cannot recommend this place highly enough for any function, great food, service & atmosphere

3 of us dropped into The George after an afternoon wandering around Borough Market. We were able to get a table right away and there was a great selection of drinks. Staff were so friendly and the pub has a great atmosphere! A really good pub and they have a nice outside area too, will be coming back for sure.

Awesome pub right next to Borough Market/London Bridge! The courtyard offers lovely views of the Shard and the pub has ample seating space both outside and inside. The building itself reminds me of the building style from New Orleans, very cool.It can get busy post work time so be aware if planning to go during the week between 5 and 7.
