Satay House in City of London

Had a fantastic meal here last year. Great satay, loved the begedil, amazing aubergine curry also lovely Roti Canai Highly recommended and a short distance from Paddington Station if you're catching a train

I went here for dinner. The customer service was great. Our host was very helpful and attentive, as were other servers.I ordered Kari laksa, with extra spiciness. It was flavorful and definitely spicy! I just wish there were more pieces of prawns(only had 2 pieces) and chicken. Although, the size of the soup bowl was huge...I had to share it with my husband. There was no wait time when I visited. Seating upstairs and downstairs. Would visit again for this dish if ever in London again.

Very clean restaurant, delicious food and very friendly staff, professional and very polite. The prices are reasonable.Chicken and beef satay in starter menu were so tasty, the main Nasri Goreng wasn’t the best, it was a bit dry and spicy. The main courses portions are relatively good.I would highly recommend this restaurant and would go visit again!

Staff were friendly, starters were good but the homemade roti canai was only ok, disappointed mains. Beef rendang was tough and spicy, coconut rice lacked coconut, was al dente and not fluffy. Would not order again. Kari laksa lacked flavour, tasted like coconut milk and chilli broth. Not worth going.

What to say, the most authentic Malay food in London hands down! Been coming here for years now, came today after a while and still has the 👌🏽 factor!Well done to this place and the people behind it 😊

I would give 3-star to the food and 2-star to the service. Overall, a 2-star experience.To start with, the chicken satay is 5/5. Like other reviews say, the satay sauce is probably the best. It is definitely the highlight of the meal. The roti was fresh and tasty too.I ordered the Laksa. I totally agee with an other review. The laksa is BLAND. On top of that, it only had very little broth and after 3mins, there was barely any broth but all absorbed in the noodle, making the dish very dense and dry.To salvage the Laksa, I asked for some broth and some chilli sause. The waitress seemed confused telling me that they needed to charge me for the chill sause but instead, chill oil was free. I found it odd but sure. I opted for the free option.Later the extra broth and chill oil were brought to me. The Laksa was less dry and edible with the extra liquid.In the end, I saw an item "OPEN TABLE" on my bill. Although it was just £2 I enquired. The waitress started apologising for "miscommunication" and said the charge was for the broth. I found it hard to believe - when the Laksa is so dry and blend, the restaurant thinks it is okay to charge extra when the eater decides to salvage the dish. This is the main reason I dislike the service.(Photo attached is the laksa - looks OK in picture but really dry, dense and kind of bland)Also, they added £1 in my bill as donation to a homelessness charity. I am not heartless but I hate being forced to donate to an organisation that I had no knowledge of. I found it very sneaky and respectfully asked them to remove it.It is good to care for your committee, but I just hope that the restaurant can give their customer the information and the choice to donate, instead of sneakily forcing it in the bill.

A little gem near Paddington and Edgware Road. The Menu is 100% Halal. Simple restaurant with basic decor, and seating arrangements. The staff are really friendly, professional and polite.The food overall is really good quality. We had Beef and Chicken Satay. Both delicious, the satay sauce is definitely the best I have ever had in UK. Chicken wings was absolutely delicious, could have had more! Main courses, really disappointed with the Nasri Goreng, it's ok but too dry. I have had this other restaurant that have been much better taste, that was the only disappointment of the visit. Apart from that, Beef Randang, Seafood Noodles, Roti, all were superb, really tasty! Portions are really good. Price is very expensive, but considering location it is expected.I would highly recommend this place, would I go back, definitely, I think I would go out of my way to have their Satay and Chicken Wings again!

Mixed experience at this place which I have not been back to for at least 15 years.Staff are polite and helpful. Service is very very good which is uncommon in Malaysian restaurants. This is probably because they have adapted themselves more to local tastes rather than being truly authentically Malaysian.Menu is extensive and has most of the staples you expect to find in a Malaysian restaurant.The highlight for us has to be the satay and in particular the peanut sauce. Probably the best you will find in London. The garlic chicken wings were also a favourite.The Nasi Lemak was not bad and the nasi goreng was also good. However, the Ayam Percik was too too sweet, the CKT was on the wet side with no Wok Hei and worse of all the Curry Laksa was very very bland. But I guess for a westerner it would be a fair (and mild) representation of Malaysian food associated with great levels of western style customer service.Will I return? Definitely for the satay and chicken wings!

Enjoyed the starters the most here. Main wise I should have gone for the laksa I think. Looked a better option. Mine was fine just a bit avg.Easy booking online. Seervice was quick. Decent value. Approximately £60 for two at lunch with starter main each , drink plus seervice. Good location to the station.

My wife and I ate here tonight and found the food and service both excellent and a great atmosphere in the small premises. We ordered dishes we are used to eating during our annual stays in Penang and found the flavours here to be very authentic and the portions great. So good in fact we ordered the same again to go for tomorrow!
