Food was bad.Lamb was raw and unflavourful. Cauliflower was heavily coated with batter, deep fried and tasted like it was from a cheap buffet. Prawns were over cooked to the point it was dry. Octopus was ok, but nothing special. Beef cheeks were slimy and not seasoned enough. Harissa dip was watery, but corn bread was nice. Pita was fluffy and nice but tahini was underwhelming and not zesty as advertised.I can’t remember when I had such a bad meal in London.

The service was impeccable, and the food fantastic. We loved every dish - the squid, octopus, lamb and pistachio desert - highly recommend.

TRULY AMAZING FOOD - absolutely loved the beef cheek and the bird nest dessert. The flavours and the cooking of the meat were all outstanding. Already booked my next visit!

I usually avoid hotel restaurants like the plague. In this instance I’m glad I didn’t. A thoroughly enjoyable meal, start to finish.

Menu of Penny Squares is inspired by the international flavours of London’s east end neighbourhood. You will find in it modern British cuisine with richness of flavours from different cultures that has been present in this area of London. We came with few friends for a couple of drinks to celebrate International Women's Day in Freedom Café and decided to stay for a dinner in Penny Squares. The staff is ever so profesional and friendly and they will do anything to make you welcomed and comfortable. The menu is perfect for sharing. We've had pretty much everything from the menu and shared between 6 of us. My personal favourite were: hazelnut harrisa, madras octopus, paprika cuttlefish and tamarind cod. Saying that I have to admit, everything I've tried was delicious and full of flavour - each and every dish amazingly spiced and faultlessly presented. We've also had all 3 deserts on the menu and these were on yet another level of deliciousness and presentation. Again, my personal favourite was vainilla kataifi but only because I'm nuts for nuts 😁 If it weren't for that, it would honestly difficult to choose a favourite. We'll definitely be coming back, especially that I've been told menú will be changing seasonly. Yay!

This is a whole experience place. Right since you arrive you get a warm welcome from the staff and assist you with the seating. What can I say about the food, the presentation of the dishes we order was so good it was painful to mess it up, the taste itself was also a huge yes. Not the last time I'll be coming 🙂
