The Bear & Staff in City of London

Bang in the heart of theatre land and a perfect place for a pint and some classic pub grub before a show. We shared a tasty but greasy calamari starter. Served with a lovely aioli. I opted for a rich, well filled, suet pastry game pie but there were lots of others to choose from. My partner had two small sides of mac n cheese and beef croquettes. Everything was well presented and tasted great. Nearly lost a star with no WiFi but food and service was just too good.

My most favourite pub in London. We use it often. Dark an moody settings are what most pub goers like. A really great pub if you like this.

Used to enjoy visiting here, good food and a lovely old fashioned pub in the centre of London but not anymore.Last week I booked a table for 5 of us. We ordered food and shortly after 2 burgers turned up. Before the cutlery arrived, my husband and daughter started eating their chips, with my daughter opening the burger and dipping her chips in the sauce.Another burger, without cheese, then arrived. It was at this point the waitress realised the food was meant for another table. We pointed out that they had been eating from the plates but the deputy manager came and took them to the other table saying ‘they’ve been waiting a long time for their food’.It was a total disregard of hygiene standards that cannot be excused especially in the current climate.I have made a formal complaint which has been acknowledged by the general manager.

Great pub grub. Really friendly and helpful staff and a lovely relaxed atmosphere. Really good selection of food. Never felt rushed even though they were busy. Will be back again soon

Tasty 'Peter Rabbit' Festive lunch - Turkey pie and greens :) nice decorations and good chef/kitchen assistant, unfortunately horrible barman with many tatoos and bullying attitude - not British guy!

Nice place, good food, but the waiter was neither efficient nor very nice and we waited for our food a loooooooooooong time, despite that the place wasn't busy.

Good place for drinks. Friendly staff, not bad prices, good atmosphere.

Perfect customer service and good pub, we tried the famous Sunday roast but it is not like in the photos we saw in google maps, the meat portion was very small as can be seen in the photo and it was not so bad, the loaded fries were very good and the ciders are served with a strawberry inside.

Excellent selection of beers and gins in this Nicholson's pub situated on Charing Cross Road near to the theatres. Pleasant and friendly staff. We had the fish and chips which were some of the best we have had in a pub for a very long time.
