Brass rail located inside Selfridge offers a relaxed and casual dining. The coffee was brewed to perfection and the salted bewd sandwich was incredibly tasty although would have enjoyed a larger portion. The recommendation is to improve timing from arrival to order being received and also for receiving bill when departing

What's happened to this place?? Used to be the best salt beef in central London but seems so disorganised now, why can't you order at the counter anymore? What's happened to takeaway? I don't want to wait ages for table service, the old way worked well! Very frustrating won't be returning

You can get the service wrong in many ways and they ticked all the boxes. It took them ages to take our order. We had to signal several times and wait while four waiters were chatting with each other. One waiter was fine but the other one had a really lazy unmotivated attitude. The way he put our drinks on the table showed a total lack of consideration. Then, the bill arrived and they round it up without asking me adding almost three pounds to the amount. I paid thinking it was for charity but when I checked the bill, I realised they had also added £1 for charity donation. The star is for the food that was actually good but the service was appalling and left me upset.

The brass rail continues to serve tasty, authentic food. The salt beef sandwiches are flavoursome and filling. While it is best had hot at one of their tables, take the large size and enjoy the rest at home warm up the meat in the microwave for 20 to 30 seconds and toast the bread foe the same time. The soup is filling and tasty while the chicken schnitzel sandwich is enough for 2.

I am disappointed.it used to be great place and salt beef was nice and full. Table was dirty. Staffs are not wearing masks. When she bring the tissue was dirty. And salt beef I ordered large but they put little beef slices and they charged for the gherkins. They also charged £1 For donation without asking. I will not be going there again and not recommending anyone.

Nice place to sit and have tea but can get fairly busy. The salt beef does not disappoint and definitely worth queuing up for.

Used to be a great place, now totally ruined by inefficient and scruffy looking staff. Waited 45 minutes for a table while stuff were talking about their weekend plans and not serving customers. They also didn’t wear masks and the table was unhygienic, wouldn’t recommend. Messed up our order also, no cutlery or service. Rubens down the road is much better

Very disappointed with today service , I have been going sometimes after work to get my beef Ribe sandwich for the last 15 years, but today the service was poor, they were under pressure, the guy preparing the sandwiches was throwing the bread behind the counter, because he got upset with one annoyed customer… it was just crazy, something you do not expect after long day at work in Selfridges after and dealing with patients…the manager was trying to look helpful but he was under stress aswell, I waited around 50mnt , I didn’t get even apologise when I was handed the sandwich, on top of that they serve the client before me by mistake but the manager said it was because my sandwich was in the toaster, not true when I got home ( I live less than 5 mnt , the bread was completely cold, no toasted and wet , never tested as bad as today) feel even sick after having it ,not even mustard as usual , they gave me when they realised the mistake 3 plastic saches… Im just socked about the service. Please, Managment make sure this type of situations doesn’t happen anymore, it put me off now returning in the future… the rest of the staff were very nice.

I have been coming here so often I am ashamed that I haven't left a review. I have tried salt beef at plenty of places but absolutely nothing comes close in terms of flavour, colour and melt-in-the-mouth texture. Everything from the rye bread to the mustard is first class. This is meaty goodness unparalleled. They use to serve this on ciabatta bread which is no longer available. The other things on the menu that I have tried is the chicken and noodle soup. Only complaint is that there were fewer chicken pieces second time I ordered.

My hubby adores the hot, salt beef sandwiches here. We visited last Sunday & he had a large one with a pickled gherkin. We had a side of potato salad too. I had loaded brussel sprouts - roasted sprouts topped with (optional) turkey breast, cheese sauce & crispy onions. A lovely seasonal dish for Xmas & only £8. Too full afterwards for dessert but the cakes etc looked lovely.
