The Green Man Pub in City of London

Hello all; this isn't really a review, but a cry of happy disbelief. I can't believe the old place is still there and looks just as it did when I used to drink there in 1966/7! The Duffy family were running the place then and John (I think John Junior, at that time like me aged 19-20) was a schoolmate. His dad, the licensee was a retired police officer and I believe John followed in his footsteps rather than staying in the pub game. I'm currently writing my autobiography and am at 1966/7 in my life story, so was looking for a picture to illustrate my happy evenings spent there...so I guess this is a review after all! Just noticed this is coming up under the wife's name, so should add in closing that I'm Geoff Barry, not Pieta...

Better than the last time I was as there. Busy pub close to Oxford Circus with half decent Guinness. Plenty of cider in offer. Food a bit hit and miss, but fine for a beer

Really nice, cosy pub, visited on Saturday. Bit odd that around 7:30pm the bar staff are clearing up and getting ready to close. Felt obliged to leave and go elsewhere.

Use to be really good pub for proper cider. Now they just serve "craft beer" and the bland fizzy stuff. Shame as it use to be great for real cider but now it's just a generic modern pub.

Had a great time on our first visit here. Not too busy, great selection of drinks and loved the burgers.Staff were really accommodating, particularly thanks to Sid who looked after us and was really friendly. Will definitely be back here again soon.

Great after work boozer. Lots of people from all walks of life here. First came here over 10 years ago and visited again last night. Not much has changed - in a good way! Had scampi and chips which was on the small side but tasty all the same.

We had a work party here and the experience from start to finish was second to none. Ewan was so helpful in helping me book The Green Man and make some last minute changes to the orders. The food was delicious, with a wide choice to suit everyone in our party. We had such great service the whole time and couldn't fault it. Would 100% recommend and definitely come back very soon :)

I had the best experience in the green Man and will definitely be returning! Sarah was an angel and made sure every need was met. Tom was incredibly helpful as well and very welcoming! A lovely pub with amazing staff, will be returning soon! xoxo Jess hill

Nice place with a really good selection of drinks and food but the staff are the standout - everybody we spoke to was friendly and went out of their way to be helpful. Particular shoutout to Andy behind the bar, great service.

The staff were great and able to offer good suggestions, we paid in three different ways and it was always smooth. Food was pretty good, but the beyond meat burger tasted a little charred. Great tobacco onions!
