Great traditional pub for a pint! A little gem tucked away from the main roads!

Seems like it would be nice and cosy given its size but it's so brightly lit I feel like I'm sitting in an office. Staff were nice, prices are fair, and it's tucked away from the city streets, but there's far nicer pubs to visit in the city that also have these things.

Nice small alleyway pub, . But the beer, awful. Pint of Purity Mad Goose was just awful, did not taste like Mad Goose, more like Sarsons vinegar, and when i mentioned this, i was told this was the first day open this year. Try tasting the beer before you sell it.

Great traditional London pub at it's best. Good vibe and superb location provided you can find it tucked away by the walkie talkie. Well worth it if you can, it's tiny though, so getting a seat can be a luxury.

This was a very good Pub with very service minded staff. Especially Chris who was very nice and welcomed us on the second floor. The food was also very good so everyone had a very nice time. The Ship is highly recommended. We will come here again.

Great range of beers for London, and thoughtful staff (had asked if there was any table space but they were very busy so we stood outside, not long after the man I'd asked came and found me and said there was now space, which I really appreciated). Prices not too bad either, especially considering where it is

Amazing little pub down an alley found it wandering around… reasonable priced drinks and lots of character

🚇 Monument🍺 £5.35 Pravha❤️ I’ve wanted to visit this pub for quite some time as I have seen lots of great pictures and read many positive reviews, so on a crawl around London Bridge I decided to check it out The Ship in Talbot Court..The pub is just a short walk from Monument tube and is located in a pleasant L shaped courtyard just off Eastcheap, it is also accessible from Gracechurch Street but blink and you’ll miss it. I have walked around this part of London many times before and never realised the pub was there. I visited around 5pm on a Friday and the pub was really busy with office workers chewing the cud from the week gone by and sharing plans for the upcoming weekend. Most punters were outside due to the exceptionally good weather and there was a real buzz about the place. As The Ship is located in a courtyard, this makes the setting very atmospheric and you feel you are in a very unique environment. Being in the city you might expect the prices to be on the high side, I had a pint of Prahva for just over a fiver, so no real premium is added because of the location. Also, a big shout out to the lady behind the bar who served me, you could tell she really enjoyed being there and was efficient and really friendly..The Ship turned out to be everything I hoped it would be. This @nicholsonspubs pub oozes class, has a fabulous atmosphere and is steeped in history. There has been a pub on this site since before the great fire of London, many a punter has come to frequent this fine establishment and I would encourage you to do the same..📊 Information correct on visiting 24/09/21

Brilliant cosy gem tucked away with good meals, great beer and excellent service! Many pubs around this area tend to be quite packed with overspill congregated around the front so don't be surprised to fight your way through a crowd of smokers to get inside. We'd already tried the nearby Wetherspoon's (Crosse Keys) and found it packed and noisy, so wandered back up the street and caught sight of this place by chance, spotting it up an alleyway, hearing some rock music pumping out of speakers. We peeked in.. and found it wasn't as busy inside, particularly upstairs where plenty of seating was available for a more relaxed environment with nice views over the street, and the music originating from downstairs wasn't set at too high a volume so made for pleasant settling.Being a Nicholson pub it has their range of beers (Nicholson's own) along with some good pies. I ordered a London lager and chicken & ham cheese pie, which arrived with mash and some veg. The pie contained some good chunks of chicken and ham hock in a cheese sauce (which clashed with the gravy, I found - but that was my fault for ordering that pie) surrounded in a crispy flaky filo pastry; a nice soft hot filling with crunchy outer, very well made. The veg was slightly underdone so still crunchy (hard carrots) which I found preferable to a soggy mess. Mustard - when requested - was Colmans! Definitely a foodie's place.I found the service good: a young Brazilian girl flitted around all tables, checking things were fine, offering drink replenishments, etc. I could have happily sat there for hours more, supping the night away.A great find, a gem off the beaten track, a place to temporarily shut out the chaos of the city business. I'll definitely return, and heartily recommend it.
