Good food but dishes are a bit hit and miss. Service is ok, but have had mixed experiences on this front which can be a bit anxiety inducing when dining pre-theatre, which is somewhat ironic given the location. My advice would be to book in advance and leave plenty of time to eat your meal.As recommended by our waiter, the lamb croquettes are absolutely divine. We ordered a portion each and that was a must. If these are on the menu, order them by the truck load!Pork belly was also good, but not as memorable as the lamb. Burrata was lovely, but hard to get that wrong! Crab pasta was OK. Black aubergine dip thing - not so nice, a bit cloying.Pud - something deconstructed, chocolatey and nice.

A handy restaurant for your pre show meal, I was left pretty hungry due to portion sizes being fairly small and pricey. That said the food was great and they're definitely going for quality over quantity. If you're looking for something different then I'd suggest one of the pop up stalls located about 100m from the theatre (east).

Food was OK but expensive for what it was. Friendly service and nice balcony seating, though.

Worst customer service experience in London for a long time. Terrible service, even worse management, ungenerous and average food. Never again.

Excellent place for a pre theatre meal serving lots of small dishes

We had our pre-wedding supper for 70 people at The Terrace Restaurant Johan and team were amazing hosts. The space is amazing with an amazing view onto the Southbank. The food and drink were both phenomenal. Our guests loved it all. Everyone can’t stop raving about the vegan linguine and the gooseberry cocktail. The staff were so attentive and helpful. We couldn’t rate the restaurant, food, drink and team more highly. Thank you!

Nice views of the river from the deck chairs outside. Good service, nice place to stop if you have just arrived at Waterloo or are heading out from there

I had a pre- theatre meal there last Friday evening, and really liked it. The staff are lovely. My guest had got stuck in traffic, but I felt completely at ease on my own. The food was wonderful, and the small plates are actually big enough to share. Excellent wine too. I was sitting inside, but the views form the terrace are undoubtedly spectacular. I will definitely go there again.

My favourite spot for pre theatre when seeing shows at the NT. Service is excellent and super quick, dishes are flavoursome and interesting, small plates that fill you up but don't weigh you down. Good wine selection and themed cocktails, River views and outdoor seating in the summer. You'll usually need a reservation as it's a popular spot in the pre show slot.

Ideal if you're going to a show at the national. Good pre theatre choices and wine list. Good friendly service and ambiance.
