The food was absolutely amazing, one of the best fish and chips I've ever had, and the waiter was so nice. Thank you so much 😊

Outstanding Sunday Roast, great beer variety (including Leffe draught) and really kind staff. I could not recommend this place enough. The food menu looks also very good! Also portions are very big. Such a gem!

This was a great place for a Sunday roast. We had a table right near the kitchen and it was fun to watch them work and to watch how quickly they brought out all of the meals. The servers were charismatic and knowledgeable about the history of the building and the menu. The food was delicious, we had the chicken, pork belly, and steak at our table and everyone had great things to say about it. They offered extra gravy to fully drench everything if you wanted, but I preferred it as they served it.

The best pub Sunday roast you will have in London. Bold statement but I believe its true. The beef in particular is the choice I keep going for with disappointment.Large portions but in no way does that detract from the high quality of the food. They even do take aways for those lazy Sundays.

Can highly recommend this place. They serve incredibly good steaks with insanely good truffle fries. The guy who takes order is really caring and knows how to provide a really god service - our favorite place in Islington. Thank you.

The food is excellent and the service and price are always good. We have had several meals here and each one has been excellent.

Incredible - friendly staff, really really good food (esp steaks and roasts) and an atmospheric high ceilinged wood panelled old Victorian dining room on one side and cosy bar on the other. Real find given it’s so easily bypassed or out of the way

Very friendly and helpful staff. Nice interior. Good beer. Why only three stars? Two reasons: zero vegan options in the menu. Yes zero. In 2021. Really quite unusual these days. They did offer tofu instead of halloumi but it sounded like an afterthought and without any flavouring. And secondly because the vegetarian option was much less filling than any of the meat based mains: check out the photo - it was mostly leaves, despite being almost £13. Being vegetarian doesn't mean you're not hungry! Had to have extra dessert to make up for it.Oh well, with a better menu, this place could easily get five stars. Especially since the staff were so nice.

Whilst quarantining at the hotel across the road, I called the Union Tavern and asked if they'd be willing to deliver some food and drink to me. Nick agreed enthusiastically and within a few seconds he'd WhatsApp'd me the full menu. I ordered a Sunday roast and it was duly delivered. The food was delicious - the best roast I've had in a long time. However, what really impressed me was the service. Nick went above and beyond, even offering to go to the shops for me if I needed anything. He offered to lend me some crockery if I didn't have anything here, and he also followed up to check that everything was OK with my roast. Nick did an amazing job and I'd recommend this pub not just for the food, but because their service is first class. They deserve to do well.

Excellent Sunday roast in a old style fashioned pub. The roast includes a starter and main, both with generous portions so perfect if you went out the night before and feel hungry. Puddings are good as well. Friendly and fast staff will make your Sunday perfect.
