The Wellesley Afternoon Tea in City of London

The staff make this place. They're fantastic. Breakfast was good too. But the hotel itself including the lobby and especially the room (suite with view of Hyde Park) felt more like 4 star and needs a refresh / lick of paint

The bedroom walls were so thin we could hear absolutely everything around us, including a man on the phone and watching tv all through the night. We were told the dress code for the Oval restaurant was formal but there was a man wearing a fleece and jeans dining in there. There was one single vegetarian option which was a basic pasta dish. We wanted to have a post-dinner drink in the Crystal bar but it was very loud and busy with very rowdy people pouring in from outside. There was nowhere to sit. The door to the “cigar terrace” was constantly being opened so the bar, the lounge directly opposite and the foyer were thick with cigar smoke. The waiter made space for us to have a seat after we pointed out we were hotel guests, but it was so smokey indoors that we couldn’t endure it and had to go back to our room. Wouldn’t recommend the hotel. Upsides were the butler service, the bathroom was very good, and the staff were nice.

The most fantastic stay ! the staff were the best I have ever experienced. Nothing was to much trouble the level of service was exemplary. Every single request was catered for. The room and indeed the Whole Hotel was immaculate. as a reviewer I rarely give 5 stars but this is truly a 5 star establishment.

It is the first time in my life that a hotel just decides to cancel my reservation without informing me in advance. We are sorry but your reservation is just canceled was the reply from the front office agent, after a four hour flight from Greece. As I also work in the hospitality industry, this behavior is unacceptable and even worse is lying to my face when you say that you are fully booked but your website has availability, clearly selling at higher rates. Very disappointed and obviously I will not recommend this hotel further at all.

Flawless…..our one night out in The Wellesley. We were greeted by a man that turned out to be a absolute Gentleman “Christian” we first enjoyed the pianist and lovely made drinks leading onto the Cigar room which was just a lovely experience but the icing on the cake was a personal tour of the cigar humidor by Christian. The mans passion just pours through and his extreme attention to detail had him come across the room because he had noticed I was having a harder draw than on my previous cigar and offered a solution “perfect draw” or a new cigar. Outstanding Hosts, ambiance, beverages and Cigars. Thank you so much, I will enjoy sampling your favourite cigar next time I come Christian. Kindest regards Paul & Tasha

More Happy Birthday to Me! Beautiful and extra attention to details from a fruit platter, birthday dessert, rose petals on the bed and candles. The Wellesley team went above and beyond to make my 50th amazing. I’m eternally grateful.Delicious food, Amazing staff-EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM goes the extra mile to welcome you and make your stay one to remember! Everything is sparkling and cleaned to a perfect level. One of my favorite places to stay!
