Tokyo Diner in City of London

one of my favorite places for a simple classic Japanese meal!! tokyo diner is my go to when I'm in central and can't decide where to eat. the service is lovely, flavors are genuine, food comes fast, and portions are really good. extra rice portions come free as well! been here twice so far and ordered oyakodon and gyudon. both are delicious but I really really loved the oyakodon!!

I came in late after a long day. The staff were super kind and courteous even after they'd had a long day.The chicken in batter was so gentle to the taste I ordered more. The staff let me stay a bit longer as I was enjoying my tea in the quiet.Really lovely restaurant. Thoroughly recommend it.

Very awesome and casual traditional Japanese diner in the corner of the busy China town district. If you’re looking for less of a noisy environment this is the perfect place!Plenty of seating through 3 floors and customers are seated spaciously throughout. Lovely views of the lanterns and the high street.Staff was very helpful and polite. They were able to recommend us things and guide us through the menu well.We preferred katsu curry tofu soba, katsu egg sauce with pork and rice bed and seaweed salad.Everything was empty when we left the table!The only sad thing is that they didn’t have takeout boxes. Beware that they also don’t take tip and have a cashless policy.Excellent place and highly recommend!

Super super delicious food and the very best staff there, so lovely! For the ones who feel extra hungry, they provide a bigger portion for free :)Our meal was extra nice since the tofu was so crispy and the sauce this tasteful I haven't eaten such exquisite Japanese food before.

Love love love!!! Service is excellent 10/10. Food is 10/10. Cleanliness 10/10.We ordered noodle soup, chicken katsu curry, nigiri sushi set & age-dashi tofu. Very very good!!! Portions are very generous but if you want a larger portion of rice its free!!! Great meet & greet - as soon as you are seated you are offered Jasmine Tea for free! Always a plus!!

A truly excellent meal that still has me happy hours later. The service was excellent and kind - we walked out of the rain and were immediately given hot tea. The menu isn't overwhelming but has plenty of choices. You can even ask for extra rice for free if you're hungry!We got the chicken katsu curry with extra rice, the Nigiri Set, and chicken udon. All of it was amazing and in total ran us £38.I like that the restaurant doesn't serve tuna in order to not contribute to overfishing. The vibe of the place is very laid back and cozy, and from the outside, the facade is so unique from its surroundings that you almost have to approach and peek at the menu.I don't know if I can say something to express how much I enjoyed it more concise than "I'll be coming back".

Super cute and cozy Japanese style diner. It is very authentic. The workers try to emulate an actual midnight dinner in Japan by having the same kind of etiquette used traditionally. We were sat down and served complimentary tea. We ordered the udon noodle soup and the tamago don. It was very delicious. The tamago don has perfectly balanced umami flavors. The Ed was cooked just right and not over done. All the staff were very hospitable and kind as well. I will definitely be back!

First time I visited was a few years ago, pre-covid. Back then it was hard to find a table and the food quality+hospitality explained why. It was a 5* experience and I always wanted to come back... These days it's easier to get a table, but the quality and hospitality don't disappoint. Soon it'll once more be complicated to get a table, so I'd recommend you visit before then!

Small but cozy. It just happened to walk in there as it just opened for the evening and sat for a meal. Not many options but nice and tasty food. Free Japanese tea and constant top-up. Very nice and polite staff!

I have been to the place several times and it is never a disappointment. Real Japanese feelings. The fried marinated tofu is to die for. They serve a glass of tea as soon as you seat down, love a warm welcome!
