A late dinner with a dear friend. Fantastic interiors , dark and luscious. Lovely atmosphere with friendly talk to customers / locals? Service was lovely and the food and cocktails fantastic. Highly recommended. The bathrooms also have a charming gentleman who keeps them spotlessly clean and provides aftershave etc. Will go again soon.

I had been to the restaurant once before and found the service simply appalling. It took about 2 or 3 hours (with numerous reminders) for a bowl of white rice (!!) to arrive. The service was so slow that I think I was starving by the time the food arrived, and thought it was actually quite decent. I came back last night, and this time the service was disconcertingly quick. Our order of 4 or 5 rolls all came out within about 10 minutes. The california roll was so compact and cold that it looked as though it had been taken straight out of the fridge. Probably made in the morning, if it was even made in the Ukai kitchen... This was the same for all the rolls. I had to scrape the sauce off of the dragon roll because it was so strong and left such a bad taste in my mouth - perhaps to mask the taste of bad fish and bad rice? You can quite honestly get better sushi at a chain restaurant in a train station.. I now regret not sending the food back at the time, but we honestly did not want to spend any more time speaking to the rude waiting staff.

Great venue in the heart of Portobello road. The sushi is great and the service is very attentive and nice. On Fridays/Saturdays night there is a DJ playing chill techno music. Definitely a perfect place to have fun enjoying some good food and drinks.

Nice interior with very good service. Good selection of drinks behind us he bar. They also featured Japanese food menu.

Poor quality food. Sushi was very basic and had been sat around. The crab rolls were made with crab sticks. The Chicken teriyaki sticks were made from off-cuts of chicken thigh. Very poor customer service and very limited gluten free options for my friend. Photos of the food at the restaurant are very misleading. All in all a very bad meal.

This restaurant was warm and inviting if a little dark. The food was delicious but a little smaller than I expected. I went with a group of friends and had ordered takeaway before which was also delicious but slightly larger portions. Sashimi was fresh and lamb chops (sounds random I know) but they were delicious. Staff were friendly and were attentive. Bathroom was clean.

We had Waiter Service which was very professional and very friendly. They knew their stuff which was very impressive..The security where very helpful as I use crutches to get around and they were so helpful. The cocktails where fantastic and the finger food we ordered was delicious and tasty.. Even the tea that they served us, was laid out with elegance.Everything was so personal and fined tuned..It was really nice..

Second time here.Monday night so not so busy.Wagyu sliders were excellent but so expensive. They are only bite size and work out to £7 pounds each !Sushi was very average.Meal for 2 with 2 drinks each came to £120 including service. That's pretty hefty !

Excellent! Great position on the corner of Portobello and Lancaster with comfortable outdoor seating. Great on a Saturday to watch the people go by. But perhaps some seats are a little close to the road. Great Japanese food and service.
