Lovely friendly traditional pub, good atmosphere, friendly helpful staff, varied menu, lots of choice

Got turned away from having a drink at 7.30pm on a Friday with my husband 2 dogs and son... because my son was 16 and no children allowed after 7pm..!! This used to be a great family pub never seen it so empty on a Friday night not suprised as it now has a most unwelcome atmosphere we will be finding a new local...!!

Beautiful old pub. Would of been nice to be greeted by a friendly smile from behind the bar as we entered, instead it was a very miserable looking bar maid who looked like she wanted to be anywhere else!!! They could keep up with some maintenance, as when going to the ladies, the toilets had wet tissue all over the floor and was like thatvfor the duration of our visit, one cubicle was also missing a lock, and when talking to a local while washing hands they said jt it been like that for weeks! As there were only 2 cubicles and a party jn, it doesn't cist much to change a toilet lock!! Also noticed mould on a wall near some lights by where the buffet was. Put me off eating the food.

Had to arrange a family event at short notice, Nicola and Darren were great. Lovely pub, nice atmosphere and the buffet food went down very well. We're grateful to the pub and staff for making a tough event run smoothly and everyone enjoyed the day. Thank you

We used to visit the Crown in Egham, but don't have the opportunity to visit it anymore. We the discovered this pub, which is in the same chain and serves the same menu (almost). It has fast become our local pub. Check out the bread and butter pudding, which is the best ever! The duck never seems to be available though, and the Sunday Triple Roast doesn't quite live up to the expectation, but overall we have made multiple visits, just for the other excellent dishes and the service. Dogs are welcome too.

Visited today for first time since lock down was served by someone who barely acknowledged I was there put drinks on bar and presented card machine didn’t speak and obviously in here service definitely does not come with a smile shame as it was such a friendly pub.

Had a few Thursday night drinks in here. Very cosy traditional pub with a few low ceilings so watch out. Drinks were good and reasonably priced. Staff were friendly and efficient. Looks like there's an extensive beer garden which I imagine is great when the weather suits. Would definitely visit again.

Had lunch here on a Tuesday & a weds. Lovely food, generous portions & beautifully presented, great value for money. Staff very friendly & love the open fire on these cold days....Dog friendly too with free doggy treats on the bar 🐕 😃

Ordered the Sunday Roast and it was honestly the worst roast I had ever eaten. I’d even go as far as to say that if I served up a roast like that, I’d be tried in The Hague. Yes, this is an old pub (450+ years) but the food doesn’t need to be as old. I would avoid it and suggest everyone does. Lifeless potatoes, dry old sirloin steak, with only two teeny slices (not that you’d want any more). The best thing on the plate was the plate itself. Disgraceful.

We went late on a Friday and they were very busy so I completely get the food might not have been their usual standard however - food looks good but the vegetables with the lamb shank were definitely frozen from a bag. They were really not nice at all, and the lamb was very dry inside.The steak meal was nice but asked for medium rare and it was basically blue. I'm sure if we'd mentioned it they would have fixed it though!Would go again, just not for the food late Friday haha.
