Yo! Sushi - Poland Street in City of London

Not what it was several years ago when I would have given 5 stars.There is more competition now in Soho and everyone expects top notch service.The service is definitely not what it was and the food is not quite as good.Anyway I would not ignore Yo Sushi in Poland Street, if you are in the mood it is basically a good place to go for a bite to eat.Not a great deal for them to really raise the bar once again, and be the "place to go"

A hidden branch of the Yo! Sushi chain. It's sushi served on a small conveyor belt where you choose the plates yourself and pay according to their color. It's an interesting place to try and good for eating alone or in small groups but don't really have tables for large groups.

The waitress took my order which I requested was for takeaway but then the chef turned up 5 mins later with the food on plates... I asked her to box it up but she either couldn't speak english or just pretended that she couldn't and ended up putting them on the belt for anyone else to get. I explained the problem to the waitress but it took a further 20 mins for me to get my food. Employing staff that have a decent grasp of the english language might help.

Having previously quite liked this Yo Sushi, I feel I now have to give it one star and recommend that no one ever go here ever again. We waited 25 minutes for service as there was nothing good on the belt, and despite politely getting the attention of the waitresses several times as they passed nobody served actually came to take our order. Once we'd decided to just leave it took us a further 6 minutes to find someone to give us our bill. Other customers were having the same experience. While waiting we watched the chefs, who handled raw chicken and fish and vegetables with bare, unwashed hands.It's a great shame, as Yo Sushi used to be a great place to go. But I'll definitely never be going here again.

My first Yo Sushi and most probably the last one. I love the idea of the Running Sushi but there the sushis don't look good, salmon had a strange taste, the table wasn't clean, the service wasn't even nice. Not to mention the price. There are plenty nicer places around so don't waste your time and your money.

I have visited many yosushi restaurants because I love the fast food that usually tastes fab. However I found the soho one to be out of date with furnishings in comparison to the others, its also got a few signs of bad upkeep. For example the broken pieces on the conveyer belt, the dishes all where stained, the seats where uncomfortable, and a few other give away signs. Maybe I sound picky, but then our food wasnt so good either. Kaiso salad tasted gone off?! Noodles where literally swimming in black burnt bits (which they did re-do) and the special mushrooms on the current menu tasted dry and overdone. Not a good experience.

A pretty good sushi restaurant, compared to most fake ones these days. The chefs clearly know their stuff and use traditional recipes, so every single dish is very tasty and delicious. Additionally they are all placed on a conveyor belt, so you just have to help yourself to whatever you like. But you should probably keep track on what you are eating, as the dishes stack themselves pretty fast, so you might end up with a huge bill at the end.

Awful service, complete joke, orders missed, what came was very slow, and if your job involves customer interaction you really need to speak the language.Felt very sorry for the people who ordered 'All you can eat' (conveyor belt only) only to see the same tired sushi rolls going round and round.Bit annoyed with myself for going back here after I reviewed it poor last time.

service is generally good and fast but the plates add up quickly so cost can get high very quickly. the kaitan/converyor belt style sushi is nice and if you do not see it coming around, the sushi chef will make it for you quite quickly.

In summary, if you can find vouchers to give you a big reduction in price then it's just about worth going as a novelty experience, but otherwise you'll be sorely disappointed.I went on Saturday night with 5 friends. It's a cool venue with the conveyor belts serving up sushi dishes, but the food looks unappetizing (I am not a food snob at all), and it's very overpriced:-most dishes around £3.50 each but are very small indeed (most people eat between 6 and 10 each)-£6 for a 600ml Sapporo beer-£3.50 for a 330ml bottle of Asahi-£4.80 for a glass of wine-£1 for unlimited water, no option for free tap waterThe other people I was with thought the food was rather woeful too. One or two dishes were okay, but most were not good, e.g. the seaweed used to wrap the sushi was tough and hard to bite through (I've had sushi quite often and it was never like that), and lots of the dishes just tasted like cold cheap noodles. The only two I enjoyed were the crispy duck dumplings and the tempura sushi.The worst thing was the service, which really sucked:-it was almost impossible to get somebody to serve you (which you need to for ordering hot food, getting refills of unlimited dishes, getting more drinks, asking for refills of soy sauce etc)-they took AGES to do anything you asked for, and in three separate cases they just forgot to come back with what we needed (glasses for beer, soy sauce, soup).We weren't giving them any attitude or anything like that, they were just hopeless.We brought along the 40% off (conveyor belt dishes only) January vouchers, so we didn't feel too badly screwed by the event, but I would have been really annoyed to pay full price for what we got.
