Market Tavern in Croydon

Arrived, barman was slow and I do mean slow, and looked like he had been taking something. Ordered the food, waited a long time for it, when it did arrive, mixed grill with jacket potatoe, no butter for the jacket spud, no steak knife, oh yeah and BTW a medium well done steak should not be bright pink, no check back by staff, so I took my plate to the bar and stood there patiently whilst the lady was on her phone, after getting the hump I walked out leaving my food on the bar. As a ex pub landlord I'm telling you this was terrible visit, be glad i wasn't a mystery shopper, also it was clear and obvious that the lads using the pool table were back and forwards from toilets and sniffing. Didn't seem to bother anybody. Never again

One of the best pubs in Croydon!!I went here recently with some friends on the eve of the platinum jubilee celebrations to watch some footy.Whilst there we ate some great sharers which were delicious and the pints are very reasonably priced.After the football was over the Karaoke began and it was fun to watch plenty of people give it a go, the atmosphere was fantastic.I will definitely be returning.

What a little gem of a pub, the place is clean and tidy, the staff seem really nice. I loved the music selection, such a lovely atmosphere.. I went for a burger and waffle fries, it was sooooo tasty.. keep up the good work market tavern 👌🏼

Amazing service here, I was in trouble and they made me feel so calm and relaxed. There’s a lady there called Zoe, so friendly and interacts with customers. The drinks are so cheap, great place to go before you go clubbing. They do two huge jugs for £15 and they put me on the floor

Love this local pub situated right on the corner of the market and with a little outdoor seating area and large and clean inside. All staff are lovely and the locals should put a smile on yiur faceI'm not keen on the food but that's just my preference!!!!! X x x

We booked a table for a friend's birthday drinks not knowing it was also a live football game being shown but they still set out table aside and catered for our food booking. The customer service was great and the food was pretty good, drinks are a great price. Probably the best place to go in Croydon now that most places have closed.

I went in here today to give it a try.I was pleasantly surprised the staff member who dealt with us Gill was amazing 👏 such a lovely buddy woman.She interacted with my 7 year old son and made him feel specialThe food was good 👍 the only thing being the steak was undercooked.All round a very pleasant experience 😊

This is the type of place that you can sit at the bar and have a friendly chat with the lovely staff, come with some mates to play darts or pool and chill…. A really homely vibe, with some good events going on! Really good prices, nice atmosphere, what more can you want in a local pub! Underrated in my opinion…. Thanks to all the staff, you make it such a welcoming place!! You feel like you’re in an out of croydon pub

I have been drinking here for a few weeks and it has a really friendly atmosphere and great kareoke on Saturdays. The main thing though is that the manager Zoe came outside (we had not even been in here that night) and helped my friend who had a seizure outside. She provided first aid and truly really helped us when we were in need. Can not thank her enough.

What a good experience we just had. The food was excellent, the prices were fair and the portions of the dishes were plentiful.The staff is extremely friendly and the overall atmosphere of the place homely and warm.
