Booked a table for 2 and when we arrived 10 minutes early and was completely ignored by 3 different members of staff. Eventually got a table but we’re just sent to it rather than walked overWaitress did come to take a drinks order , 15 minutes later we were still waiting and had to chase up the drinksThe starters were brought out quite promptly and they were nice , I ordered the mussels in cream and white wine. When they arrived they were awful ! Gritty, tasteless and the cream sauce was split and curdledThe waitress who dealt with the complaint was very good but overall the service was appalling! Would not go back EVER !

There was nothing really wrong with my visit. My first time in a Cafe Rouge and I probably wouldn't go again. But there was nothing wrong with it. Just not my vibes!

Friendly service from the staff. The food was very tasty indeed. I'm only giving 3*, though, because of the size of the servings which, in my opinion, was small. The dish I ordered had two small pieces of chicken. It was the same with the beef bourguignon dish that my friend had. The portion was more like a generous starter.I really like Cafe Rouge. But as Oliver Twist said, "Please, Sir, I want some more."

Been here a couple times on the weekend for lunch and can always get a table without a reservation. I usually get a set menu of two courses for £16.95. I love the chicken liver pâté and garlic mushroom on bread starters. The poulet breton (in the photo) was a good portion and my partner liked his fish (not part of the set menu. I’ve also tried other set menu mains such as the chicken Caesar salad which was average but wouldn’t recommend the black Angus burger and the sirloin steak frites which were small portions and really dry.

We had an absolutely amazing meal with all our family. We had 2 children with us and they couldn’t have been sweeter and kept us all entertained with incredible service. Danni was an amazing waitress and because of her, we would continue to come back regularly!

Staff didn't bother to check our booking, very rude service with the waitress literally dragging our requested extra chair to the table like it was coming out of her wages. I have been a waitress and am understanding and cordial but the waitress never smiled once and we felt like we were bothering the team to be there. The staff didn't know the menu well and there was a big mix up with the bill at the end that was quite stressful. 3 out of 6 meals were cold (though were deducted from bill), and restaurant was quite dusty and tatty (ripped chairs, loose tiles etc). A shame, as it could be a very nice restaurant if it had better management, better trained staff, and a little TLC to the interior. Food was tasty overall if overpriced. It was a birthday meal with my friends and we weren't impressed.

Not too busy on a Monday, good service, lovely waitress, leffe on draft. It's all good. Quality food at decent price.

Such a shame, on a different day it might have been different but on this occasion, it was a terrible experience: bland food, poor service, and incorrect bill. Our waitress looked nervous from the moment she was seating us and it turned out she was still in training. We repeatedly asked for bavette steak and even pointed to it on the menu, but we were given baguettes. The waiter came to clear our plates and asked if we wanted desserts, we did but he never came back with a dessert menu. We'd had enough at this point and decided to leave. The baguettes we hadn't asked for, and didn't eat, were still on the bill. While the manager apologised profusely, and offered us a free dessert, we just wanted to leave. We bought a sticky toffee pudding and custard from Sainsbury's and it was the highlight of the night. The food itself was bland, the bavette we eventually got was medium not medium-rare and under-seasoned. My black angus burger with extra red onion chutney and bacon was very much the same. It didn't taste of much, the chutney was soggy and bland, almost watered down, the bacon was limp and undercooked, and the bun fell apart the moment you picked it up. The fries, however, were lovely. Sprinkled with a paprika dusting and well salted, they reminded me of my childhood in Germany. All in all a dismal affair and not the Café Rouge I remember from the 2000s.

Waitress was pleasant but they seemed busy so a bit of waiting around. Good food!

Lovely deco and very French. Great set meal deal and amazing veg soup and mushrooms on bread I'd say. The 7oz steak is unfortunately very burnt and tastes bitter as we'd need to have it well done for the our toddlers although the staff suggested it's better rawer. Chocolate fondant is no good at all. Staff is nice but very busy as I think it's understaff so it took longer than other restaurants to take order, bring the dishes and get us the bill. Will stick to the starters but more carefully with the main dish next time.
