City Cafe in Greenwich

Once upon a time this was my favourite place in all of Greenwich. Clean, relaxed and welcoming.Now, although well maintained it has developed rules. Outside at pavement level, no food allowed. Why I can't imagine.The staff were once very good.Although in my two recent visits, service was very poor. In my first visit I was ignored. No one even saw me leave after 10 minutes.This second visit was at the request of a friend. But I doubt I will give it a third go.Although the snack was good.I can't abide staff who are so busy talking to each other, or going through the motions, that they notice little else.

This was an good place. Firstly, it was very quiet for a Sunday afternoon. And, with their loyalty card we got a significant discount. The food is pretty delicious and there was no issues there. The food came out in good time too, and the service was okay too. I’d recommend their burgers and the crème brûlée. The music wasn’t too loud, so I could hear the people with me which was good.The only criticism I’d have is that they took quite a while to tidy a table behind us that was quite dirty. It was a shame that one of their only vegan desserts wasn’t available too. The beers that were were given were two for one, which was good but this was because they were passed their “best before” date. The decor is a little tired looking, but I didn’t mind that. Overall I would probably come back here again though.

Tasty but expressionless. All dishes correct although the steak was too deeply done even though I ordered medium. Good place for a quick lunch. Nothing out of the ordinary.

I used to love cafe rouge and this was the first time going there in 2 years. The lunch menu was very limited and when asked if there was a full menu, we were told that under the managers request they didn't offer a full menu and starter. We had to wait ages to be served by our original waitress and was told to choose our table by just pointing over to all the free spaces. Our saving grace was the young lady at the bar who came over and took our orders. The ambience and vibe was not the same at this restaurant, seemed very regimented.

Delicious food, and pleasant staff.2 stars down because lots items from the menu were not available, long waiting time and the place is a bit dusty. Otherwise, great for lunch.

I like our local Cafe Rouge. I have had lunch there several times and the food and service have always been good! Staff is nice and friendly. I usually order the Duck Confit which tastes great. I have recently tried the burgers and they are also very good! I will be coming back in the future!

There was nothing really wrong with my visit. My first time in a Cafe Rouge and I probably wouldn't go again. But there was nothing wrong with it. Just not my vibes!

Been here a couple times on the weekend for lunch and can always get a table without a reservation. I usually get a set menu of two courses for £16.95. I love the chicken liver pâté and garlic mushroom on bread starters. The poulet breton (in the photo) was a good portion and my partner liked his fish (not part of the set menu. I’ve also tried other set menu mains such as the chicken Caesar salad which was average but wouldn’t recommend the black Angus burger and the sirloin steak frites which were small portions and really dry.

Not too busy on a Monday, good service, lovely waitress, leffe on draft. It's all good. Quality food at decent price.

Lovely deco and very French. Great set meal deal and amazing veg soup and mushrooms on bread I'd say. The 7oz steak is unfortunately very burnt and tastes bitter as we'd need to have it well done for the our toddlers although the staff suggested it's better rawer. Chocolate fondant is no good at all. Staff is nice but very busy as I think it's understaff so it took longer than other restaurants to take order, bring the dishes and get us the bill. Will stick to the starters but more carefully with the main dish next time.
