I dont know if they gave us left overs it was difficult to swallow the food, chips were solid, was hungry so ate it. we both had stomach ache all night ended up having to go home and not have a night out and the following day still trying to dissolve it. really gone down hill compared to when it opened will not be going back after paying £88 for fish and chips and a starters for 2, very disappointed.

Fish house is one of the best. It's very close to Victoria park which is a lovely place. And has good food. Prices at a little bit expensive but what isnt expensive now a days. The food was also very greasy but the workers didnt give us any forks . The workers were lovely were nice to us. Definitely reccomend.

Fairly grim experience. Hygiene appears poor - waitress sitting on one of the counters, taking cash in hand and then handling food with no cleaning in between (during a pandemic). Ordered haddock and chips, both swimming in oil and bland. Very disappointing considering the prices charged.

I've walked past The Fish House a few times and was intrigued by the sign for vegan scampi. As a vegan I don't expect a fish and chip shop to have vegan options, but tonight I visited with 2 friends who enjoy their fish.I was happy to see 3 options 'fish' and chips, 'scampi' and chips and 'chicken' and chips, each had a different substitute, banana blossom, palm hearts and Jack fruit.I chose the 'scampi' aka ... palm hearts, a good texture and freshly cooked. My friends enjoyed their rock and cod too.The staff were delightful and the restaurant clean. It was quite cold inside, but it is December and we need to ventilate right now.I will return, but maybe when it's a little warmer

Soggy uncooked chips and the cod was only just cooked didn't taste very good. Very disappointed was expecting more from the price. Battered sausage was barely battered. Curry sauce was great though probably the best curry sauce I've had shame it couldn't mask the rest of the food.

quality has really gone down hill. The fish and batter are usually ok, friend had the gluten free batter and I had usual last time, both were really good….but the chips i’ve had the last three times I’ve been have been awful, one lot tasted like they were the last batch from the day before. Not fried at the right temp and portions have reduced in size too…definitely not ‘posh’ but still charging posh prices.Service without a smile doesn’t help when they are asking top dollar as well.Shame really…used to be more consistent

Haven't had fish and chips this good for a while.Grabbed a takeaway cod and chips with pickle and onion.Chips were crispy and soft in the middle, cod was cooked to perfection, fresh fish with a light crispy batter, pickle and onions fresh and crisp, all served in a Box in a paper bag still lovely and hot time I got home, will definitely eat in next time.Fish and chips at its best served by friendly welcoming staff.

I ordered the cod and chips, the cod was fresh and light with a crispy batter which was crunchy, the chips were chunky and crispy too. The curry sauce was full of rich flavours which complimented the cod well. Would definitely recommend trying it or going again

Amazing tasting fish and chips however the customer service isn’t great at all and it’s a bit pricey.

Busy fish and chip shop. Currently serving takeaway only. There was a queue inside and out on Friday evening but it was moving fast and everything was being cooked fresh. It took us about 35 minutes to get the meal home due to a broken down car blocking the road but after 15 minutes in the oven the fish and chips were very good.Place was busy with locals which is always a good sign. Certainly one in the list to visit when we can sit inside and eat. Worth a visit to takeaway in any case.
